“Super hotel, great trip but poor airco.”

Every year my mother (46), my sister (23) and me (24) go on a relaxing all in holiday together. The Meryan in Alanya was undoubtedly on of the best all in hotels we've stayed in.

The hotel itself is really pretty with well kept grounds and a nice pool area. The bar is situated in an area with lots of palm trees. Which was a nice way to provide a bit of much needed shadow. The drinks were plentiful although, sometimes, you had to wait quite a while to get new drinks. (Not SUCH a problem since you could go to bar yourself to pick up new drinks ... but hey we were a bit lazy.)

During the day we mostly preferred the beach side. It was cooler there and less noisy. The beach side is beautiful as well with a little pier that goes about 10 meters into the water. We took the most beautiful dive/sunset pictures on that pier. The beach is a bit rocky, but because of the pier, you never even had to touch the stones.

The food was overall very tasty and varied from day to day. Most days there were a few warm dishes that were prepared on the spot (kebab, roasted meat, grilled meat, ...). So this was always hot and very tasty. The salads were nice and fresh. We could find ourselves something nice to eat every single day. One thing I didn't really understand about our fellow hotel visitors was that they apparently preferred sitting inside the (not so cosy) dining room. We, on the other hand, always sat very close to the beach and next to the bar. The nicest spot! But apparently some people had different opinions.

A few minor points: our room was on the 8th floor and was really, really hot. The airco didn't really help so mostly we slept with our window open. And even then we had to spend some really sweaty nights...
Another small minor point: there is nothing to do / see in the immediate surroundings of the hotel. There is some kind of shopping center about 1km from the hotel. But it's really only the stupid tourist shops. And mainly focused on the Russian vacationers (there were a lot of them...) The shopping thing is really not worth the trip. We were back in our hotel sipping drinks after one hour :-)

One really good point was the spa of the hotel! On our first day we booked a scrub/soap massage/oil massage/facial and this was wonderful! So great in fact that we concluded our trip with a chocolate massage. Pampering!!!

All in all a very nice hotel with some minor flaws. Definitely worth the trip! Don't hesitate to contact me with further questions!

Staying was very good, the hotel was clan, people was kind, there were too many children but you never get board and you did not see them often, animation team was totally amateur.

“Value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

Spent 1 week with my wife - she was enjoying her vacation and I should have combined vacation with work, so needed a good hotel with internet connection in the room.
Hotel is indeed very good, with all inclusive system you need nothing more. I've got another 2 kilos - thanks to very good cuisine and famous turkish sweets. The plage is good, with good pier and 2 ladders, watersports are within 30 second walk, wooden walkways will save your feet, the only disadvantage is a pebblestone beach while the seabed is covered with sand 2 meters away from the shoreline so it's better to use special swimming boots or ladders on a pier. Another disadvantage is that WiFi is not working at the plage (I'm joking partially but it could be a good idea to put another antenna on a plage to allow usage of netbook). Wifi is working throughout hotel, in rooms, lobby etc except restaurant (quite strange?). FYI - if you use MS Outlook - to enable sending messages from Outlook please set SMTP server to mail.turk.tr, SMTP port - 587.
You can reach Alanya, about 30 km (must see Cleopatra beach!!!) easily by minibus, there is a bus stop just in front of the hotel, about 45 minutes drive and costs 4 Turkish liras. Also there are some local shops with turkish sweets, souvenirs, clothes etc - about 1 km walk to the left of the hotel (standing back to entrance).
Disco is located at the -1 floor - perhaps not good for fans but very convenient for other residents - there is no sound at night, only from neighbour hotels!
There are good facilities and animation for children, sport, khamam, gym (not sure what it's for when you can exercice at sea!), pool tables, large pool with fresh water, I had no time to check everything!
Hotel staff is well trained but it can be easily identified that some of them doesn't like Russians (they become incredibly slow and inactive) and prefer to serve Germans and other EU nationalities.
Of course there are some minor items that can be improved but overall the hotel gives very good impression.
I'll definitely stay there next time.

“Meryan - a great hotel to spend your holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2009

We enjoyed our holiday in Meryan hotel very much.
The rooms were cleaned every day and they also refilled the free drinks of the minibar daily. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that they moved some of my stuff around when cleaning. Rooms were spacey enough but unfortunately most of them don't have a view to the sea.

With all inclusive system the food range was large, you really had a lot to choose from and the cooking tasted really good. We were very pleased with the food and the service in that area.

The animation team throws different challenges and activities daily. We really liked the night program - animation team always managed to put on a great show.

The hotel has a nice garden and a pool area. Unfortunately the sun beds get taken really fast and because of that we spent more time at the beach. The beach is rocky; however you can use a bridge to get into the water.

Most of the guests that stay in this hotel are Germans and Russians. The animation team used German, Russian, English and I think Polish when giving performances and arranging activities. It seemed that most of the Turkish people speak German and Russian better than English. We were greeted several times in Russian, which we don't appreciate.

The location was good for us. It's about 30 km away from Alanya and I think that a quieter area to stay at. The bus goes to Alanya directly from in front of the hotel after every 8 minutes or so and the price is 2,5 euros.

In conclusion, we loved our holiday in Meryan hotel and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.
