Every year my mother (46), my sister (23) and me (24) go on a relaxing all in holiday together. The Meryan in Alanya was undoubtedly on of the best all in hotels we've stayed in.
The hotel itself is really pretty with well kept grounds and a nice pool area. The bar is situated in an area with lots of palm trees. Which was a nice way to provide a bit of much needed shadow. The drinks were plentiful although, sometimes, you had to wait quite a while to get new drinks. (Not SUCH a problem since you could go to bar yourself to pick up new drinks ... but hey we were a bit lazy.)
During the day we mostly preferred the beach side. It was cooler there and less noisy. The beach side is beautiful as well with a little pier that goes about 10 meters into the water. We took the most beautiful dive/sunset pictures on that pier. The beach is a bit rocky, but because of the pier, you never even had to touch the stones.
The food was overall very tasty and varied from day to day. Most days there were a few warm dishes that were prepared on the spot (kebab, roasted meat, grilled meat, ...). So this was always hot and very tasty. The salads were nice and fresh. We could find ourselves something nice to eat every single day. One thing I didn't really understand about our fellow hotel visitors was that they apparently preferred sitting inside the (not so cosy) dining room. We, on the other hand, always sat very close to the beach and next to the bar. The nicest spot! But apparently some people had different opinions.
A few minor points: our room was on the 8th floor and was really, really hot. The airco didn't really help so mostly we slept with our window open. And even then we had to spend some really sweaty nights...
Another small minor point: there is nothing to do / see in the immediate surroundings of the hotel. There is some kind of shopping center about 1km from the hotel. But it's really only the stupid tourist shops. And mainly focused on the Russian vacationers (there were a lot of them...) The shopping thing is really not worth the trip. We were back in our hotel sipping drinks after one hour :-)
One really good point was the spa of the hotel! On our first day we booked a scrub/soap massage/oil massage/facial and this was wonderful! So great in fact that we concluded our trip with a chocolate massage. Pampering!!!
All in all a very nice hotel with some minor flaws. Definitely worth the trip! Don't hesitate to contact me with further questions!
