January 2012 - this was our first visit back to the Imperial for a number of years. Very pleased to say it was just as good as ever. Porter takes cases from coach into hotel, welcome drink on arrival, room just as we remembered - large comfy beds, clean and well stocked bathroom, nice view of the beach and sea from the balcony. The lobby is an enormous expanse of marble floor with soft chairs and tables set about. There is a baby grand piano there, should any guest wish to entertain everyone. The glass elevators are a pleasure to watch, especially in the evening when they are highlighted with blue lights. We were on a Thomson all-inclusive holiday this time, so there was no need to purchase any meals or drinks. In fact we spent more on tips than anything else! The restaurant had a wide choice of very tasty food at all mealtimes, the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you wish to sit in the sun around the pool or in the gardens, there are loungers or chairs and tables. The bar staff seem to serve wherever you may park yourself within the grounds! The service and attention to the guests needs are second to none, which is why we chose to go back for our fourth visit. For the energetic, it is a 3km stroll down to the port and marina in El Kantaoui. We managed it four times in our week's stay. The prices in the cafe's down there are reasonable but beware the hawkers that drift into the outside seating areas! They will try to sell you anything (that you don't want!) There is a very good spa on site, from a good scrub down to a full body massage at very reasonable prices. You must try the spa pool, that is heated seawater - just marvellous, floating around in the hot water, being drifted gently by the underwater jets down the side of the pool. I must check my diary - when can we go back?
