“NEVER AGAIN!!!”

After arriving for our fourth holiday in Port ElKantoui on the 05/02/2012 at the Abou Sofiane we were full of optomism and excitement. What a dissapointment awaited us in this freezing cold, tatty hotel. The left over food from lunchtime was served up again at the evening meal which could have caused us become extremeley ill if we hadnt been aware and avoided it. The staff were unfriendly and anything we asked from them appeared to cause too much trouble for them to do. The animation team were just a bunch of kids who preferred to sit about doing nothing than to do any activities with the holiday makers. We complained to the Thomas Cook Rep at the meeting. She was very good and moved my self and my partner and another 3 couples to another hotel where we had a brilliant holiday for the rest of the week, Gary and Janet.

We have been to this hotel 5 times, since Feb 2008, one year went twice, its a great hotel, the people are fantastic, its great that most of them remember you each time, the older waiter in the restaurant always remembers us, and comes to greet us when we get there, as he is usually getting ready for the morning breakfast when we arrive. The annimation team is great, always keep us laughing, and have time for you. Cant wait go with the family in March,

“Another Great Xmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We have just back from another great Xmas and new year at Abou Sofiane. Not a lot of people there but the staff still looked after us well. Never went in for the xmas gala meal as already planned to go to the New Fly restaurant which was great so much to eat and very nicely prepared. On xmas morning Father christmas came down to the hotel on a camel and all the animation team and gave out presents and a free ride on the camel if you were brave enough.Had a manger in the gardens but instead of baby jesus we had two baby goats which were only a week old and very sweet. New years eve was the best the animation team put on a brilliant show. The food was good. We had hats blowers glasses balloons sparkles and streamers and at 12 we had fireworks out by the pool.Like to thank all the team at abou sofiane for making this year so special after all the trouble they have had in the last year. also thanks to Teto, scobby do, cocoa and the rest of the animation team for making our stay very pleasant seeing that the weather was not very good. Also would like to say we went on a trip to El Gem with one of the taxi drivers he stayed with us as a guide all morning and he was brilliant. Learnt more about Tunisa from him than any one else. He even took us for a nice coffee afterwards. His name is Said . Looking forward to going back again sometime this year will be our eighth time and never seem to get fed up with it.Its such a relaxing holiday and beautiful beach so if you have never been please give it a thought.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floor over looking the pool are the best ones.

“Brilliant Break with Helpful Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I visited this hotel back in March 2010, i was on the first flight back to tunisia after the troubles they had before.

Arrived there and we checked in (only me off the english coach - and the other person was not english!) and they had a cocktail waiting for me and said i was the 5th person there! Later that day some more english people came so had afew to talk to in the hotel - obviously it wont be like that now but this was the first flight back.

The room was lovely, good sea and pool view, cleaned very well, and at this point i want to make a very big thank you to the cleaners - I was very silly and left my Brand New GHD Straightners behind, i rang up the hotel when i was back in England just to see if they had been handed in and the cleaners handed them in!!!!! You cannot get more honest than that.

Tunisian people are lovely and the staff in the hotel were great, the food was lovely and the chef always came out and grilled some fresh things for us, fresh orange juice made with real oranges etc! Although there was only about 20 - 20 people in the hotel we were still looked after very very well, about 5 days in some more people arrived and they did a show for us in the lovely ampithetre building just for the select few of us with the usual... jacko dancing and belly dancing it was good!

Reccommend the Sousse Medina, really good bargains and good day out if like me you enjoy the banter and the haggling. Remember though that the gold is not real! they will offer you a certificate but never give it to you!

The hotel has its private beach which is good, the pool was too cold to go in when i travelled! The wi-fi wasnt working but the manager let me use his office which was good of him.

The walk into town is nice after food, we visited one resturant when we where there, but things will be much different now i imagine, we chose the day where the new prime minister was choosing his cabinet - so there wasnt many people around, it was strange as ive been to tunisia many times and twice alone to see it that empty, it was sad because usually its bustling, but i spoke to the people about how they felt now and they were much happier. 2 fishermen who helped me to a short cut to the port, they were happy, the people in sousse medina were happy and proud and they were all happy to talk about it, its not something they want swept under the carpet.

Overall very good holiday, lovely staff, good clean hotel the only shame was the weather - but bad weather = lots of shopping in tunisia!!!

Would reccommend to everyone! Cant beat honest people

Room Tip: I was on the 2nd floor by the roof terrace, the terrace is a good suntrap and shelters the wind!
