I visited this hotel back in March 2010, i was on the first flight back to tunisia after the troubles they had before.
Arrived there and we checked in (only me off the english coach - and the other person was not english!) and they had a cocktail waiting for me and said i was the 5th person there! Later that day some more english people came so had afew to talk to in the hotel - obviously it wont be like that now but this was the first flight back.
The room was lovely, good sea and pool view, cleaned very well, and at this point i want to make a very big thank you to the cleaners - I was very silly and left my Brand New GHD Straightners behind, i rang up the hotel when i was back in England just to see if they had been handed in and the cleaners handed them in!!!!! You cannot get more honest than that.
Tunisian people are lovely and the staff in the hotel were great, the food was lovely and the chef always came out and grilled some fresh things for us, fresh orange juice made with real oranges etc! Although there was only about 20 - 20 people in the hotel we were still looked after very very well, about 5 days in some more people arrived and they did a show for us in the lovely ampithetre building just for the select few of us with the usual... jacko dancing and belly dancing it was good!
Reccommend the Sousse Medina, really good bargains and good day out if like me you enjoy the banter and the haggling. Remember though that the gold is not real! they will offer you a certificate but never give it to you!
The hotel has its private beach which is good, the pool was too cold to go in when i travelled! The wi-fi wasnt working but the manager let me use his office which was good of him.
The walk into town is nice after food, we visited one resturant when we where there, but things will be much different now i imagine, we chose the day where the new prime minister was choosing his cabinet - so there wasnt many people around, it was strange as ive been to tunisia many times and twice alone to see it that empty, it was sad because usually its bustling, but i spoke to the people about how they felt now and they were much happier. 2 fishermen who helped me to a short cut to the port, they were happy, the people in sousse medina were happy and proud and they were all happy to talk about it, its not something they want swept under the carpet.
Overall very good holiday, lovely staff, good clean hotel the only shame was the weather - but bad weather = lots of shopping in tunisia!!!
Would reccommend to everyone! Cant beat honest people
Room Tip: I was on the 2nd floor by the roof terrace, the terrace is a good suntrap and shelters the wind!
