Just returned from 11 nights with Thomson in this hotel. The hotel is well situated onthe beach, just five minutes walk from the golf courses and the port and shops. The public areas, except the dining room, are fine and seem to have been renovated recently.
The dining room had flithy chairs and sometimes the table cloths were grubby from the previous occupants - just turned over instead of changed. The waiters seem to have lost enthusiasm - who can blame them? They are just clearing tables and serving the occasional drink, instead of doing the skilled waiting jobs they were probably trained for, but then that is what happens with buffet dining. Dinner on holiday should be an occasion to look forward to, which it wasn't here. The food was acceptable in the evenings, breakfast was fine with ample choice of egg dishes, pancakes etc as well as pastries, fruit etc.
The bedroom was large with a nice view over the pool and sea. A new carpet, but everything else was tired and the bathroom tiles were definitely past it. The lighting was atrocious in the room - could not see enough to read so if you are a keen reader take a booklight with you! Twice this was mentioned at reception but they really don't care - even said this was a common complaint! No safe in the room so had to trek to reception for the 2TD a day deposit box which is tedious. Take your kettle if you like a brew. The local supermarket has milk etc and is very cheap with delicious cakes, bread, fruit etc.
The pool area is fine apart from being charged 2DT per sunbed mattress, although strangely the beds are free on the hotel's beach. Take your towel.
The evening entertainment revolved around the bar and a duo would sing some evenings - usually the same songs each night. The fakhir show seemed mainly to be a photo sales opportunity for the resident photographer as they tred to get as many guests as possible piled on top of the fakhir on his bed of nails.
Enough moaning. We enjoyed the golf, the weather was fine and considering we paid about £33 per person per day for the flight, private transfer and half-board hotel package with Thomsons it was great Value for Money!
Room Tip: Pay for a sea view and ask for non-smoking if you don't smoke as the two lower floors of bedroom...
