“What a Great Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

My friend and I have just returned today for an all inclusive, 11 night stay. Although the hotel needs updating and the rooms are basic, the place is clean. We had fresh towels every day, the room and en suite was cleaned every day and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. They could not do enough for us, from putting flowers and drinks ready on our table for when we went to eat, to making sure we were looked after even while stayed by the pool. The food was varied and tasty. If you expect fish and chips or burgers, then stay in England. We cannot fault the food at all, it was well presented, tasty and plentiful. If you want marble floors, classy surroundings, then pay a lot more and go for nothing less than 5 star. If you wand to be looked after, entertained and well catered for, then stay here. My friend and I had a really wonderful holiday and will be going back either later this year or next year.

Room Tip: Be nice to the staff, they work really long hours

“What a DUMP !!!!!!”

Well where to start??...me and my wife arrived at the hotel and just wasn't welcomed on arrival?...then found our room to be very basic but could manage with that, later that day another guest told us the hotel was closing in 1 weeks time yet we had booked 2 weeks holiday there? wasn't impressed with the location of the hotel and definately not impressed with the food, an absolute disgrace to mankind, no variety of food, stale bread other food not fresh and just simply had enough when there were fly's and bugs in the food especially as nothing was covered up like you would expect? The drinks were also horrible and not too much variety there either, many guests complained and we had to kick up a fuss just to get the chef to cook something edible and that was a plate of chips which was actually very tasty especially after i was living on bread and water and i kid you not, me and my wife were amazed at the so called rating of this hotel? who actually goes to these hotel's and rates them? Shall i go on.....ok...entertainment was non existant throughout the day and evening. The hotel even closed the private beach and also took the parasol's down from around the pool...this holiday was unreal to say the least we just couldn't believe what we were witnessing this was something you see on holidays from hell !!!! an absolute nightmare. The positive things were the staff were nice and polite and helpful and i know they were even disgusted with the state of things especially as they said they wouldn't eat the food at the hotel either? and the other good thing was leaving to go to another hotel which was amazing compared to Saadia Hotel. I would just like to say this is mine and my wife's opinion of this hotel and do not know what this hotel could be like at any other time of the year.

“Don't recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

Food was poor, service ok but little to do in the hotel. Excursions weren't up to much. Many people went down with sickness and flu when we were there including my husband. Read it might be because of the salt lakes right next to the hotel that attract lots of insects. Wouldn't recommend the hotel or resort. Not much going on in Skanes.

“all things considered i enjoyed my stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

i decided go ahead and book this hotel despite the reviews on here due to some people liking and some people hating the hotel, having been to tunisia before you realise people can also feel like this about the country as a whole therefore decided to make up my own mind about this hotel. I don't think the resort of skanes helps the Saadia at all. There is nothing at all here, no shops, nothing to walk to, nothing but the beach and other hotels, This like over people have commented has meant that we had to either stop in the hotel or think about travelling into Sousse or Monastir.

The majority of the previous reviews are correct therefore if your easy going and can put up with a older hotel with small repairs needed in places and maybe a little modernisation to the bathrooms, you'll be fine, otherwise i would change hotels. Our bathroom was clean but the shower flooded the room and you could see the broken tiles that had been replaced. the bedroom was comftable, we had no tv, but this was stated in the brochure therefore was no shock, we had no tea making facilities due to them being available from 6am from the dining room. The corridors and stairs are a little dark but are walkable and there is a lift.

i thought all the drinks on offer where good under the all inclusive offer. Large bottled water, coke, fanta etc, coffes and tea, the alcohol was a little disappointing but tunisia as a whole dosent offer a large varirty of alcohol due to the price they have to pay to import them, everybody liked the beer and like previous reviews if you take a pint glass, they will fill it for you, i thought the plastic beakers where a good idea during the day as lots of people took drink out to the pool including me so don't see why on preious reviews people have moaned about them.

the pool area and the hotel as a whole was clean. the pool area did have some cracked tiles and there was some broken sunbeds.

the cleaners and hotel staff are the friendliest i have ever known in a hotel, the animation team did a good job entertaining the children and like the previous reviews did not trouble you if you didn't want to join in the adult games.

The food would be the main reason i would not go back, despite the choice everything was repeated day by day so quickly got boring having lunch and dinner the same.

the flys are a pest but what do u expect the hotel to do about them, we like other people put up with them and if you go on to the beach there are none

the british bar is a little loud and is on till late so bear this in mind and take ear plugs.

nobody had food poisioning while i was there.

all in all. if you easy going and can put up with a hotel that needs a little work go, otherwise do what i was advised to do next time and book a 4 star hotel as in tunisia this makes a big difference
