Myself and 2 girlfriends (aged between 20-25) were looking for a last minute, all-inclusive cheap and cheerful holiday to just relax and sunbathe for an entire week. We had never thought about Tunisia before, but seeing as it’s a little different than the usual Spain and Greece we thought we’d go for it. We arrived at the airport and managed to get a taxi across to the resort (always get a taxi, only a 2 min journey and cheaper than transfer)
The main lobby was quite busy with guests as we arrived late in the evening; we then checked in at the reception and were taken to our rooms with our bags by the staff.
Our room was clean, comfortable but wasn’t luxurious by any means. The hotel itself seemed a bit outdated, but – we were excited for sunbathing and relaxing we just had a few drinks and went to sleep.
The buffet restaurant serves food 3 times a day (breakfast/lunch/dinner) with croissants being served outside at the pool bar between the buffet times – there was also a crepe hour every day (however, with only one person making crepes the queue was always very long!)
The food in the restaurant got quite boring and bland after many visits; the choices were chips, fish, chicken, veg, pasta, etc and some nice (but odd) deserts.
The alcoholic drinks were very watered down, and you had to queue again for these, in fact you had to queue for everything – a lot of patience was required. And as we found, not everyone understood the concept of queuing and a lot of people just pushed in.
The pool was nice and cool, however if you’re not up early enough to reserve a sun bed then you won’t get one! We found the beach the best place to get a sun bed (or just put your towel on the sand) and a tan especially with the cool breeze. It was really good to have a nice beach so close by.
The nighttime entertainment was pretty awful, not something a group of girls our age would find entertaining! However we went on an organised night out to a club in a near by city which was fab, it was great to taste full strength cocktails again!!!
The staff on the resort were friendly and we managed to have a good bit of banter with them, we even got one guy who worked on the beach to reserve us a sunbed each morning!
All in all, you get what you pay for. We paid just over £300 for one week all-inclusive, (I would definitely not stay for 2 weeks, one week was enough!!!) we were not expecting the lap of luxury and we certainly didn’t get it. However, a holiday is what you make it, we had a great laugh and managed to make the best of the situation, I’m not going to slate this resort because its not top of the range but its still good to get away from home if you cant afford much and get a nice tan!
