“Value for Money for last minute sun.”

The first thing I will say is "be prepared to be embarrassed by fellow Brits complaining about........ well, just complaining"!!! This isn't a delux hotel and doesn't boost 4* quality, but it's clean, roomy and friendly. There are 3 good, clean pools, all with bars, entertainment (if you want it) and plenty to eat continuously throughout the day. I was embarrassed to hear complaints....... if it wasn't to do with the layout of the complex (having to walk to far to get your free beach towel) it would be down to the restaurant and the food choice!!!! Ok breakfast isn't the good old english fry up, but there is so much choice....... fresh fruit, yogurts, ommletes, boiled eggs, toast, fresh juice, freshly made sweet breads as well as the cheese and ham section. Every evening was different - there'is the pizza, pasta, veggie section - a different potato dish, chicken, beef and fish - soups were great and the selection of salad was outstanding. Fresh bread that you cut yourself along with a Tunisian Speciality section. Desserts were amazingly decorative - shame you had to destroy the art to enjoy the flavours. All in all, you can make it as good or as bad as you want. This hotel is not within walking distance of a town/willage (that's why it's all inclusive) and so you could stick to using the hotel facilities for the whole of your stay - or you could grab a taxi just outside the main gates and for £2 you can take a 15 minute drive to the nearest town of Muldoon (it's not spelt like that but pronounced this way). Nice little place but not much going on. There are excursions with the tour operator!!! Walk along the beach to the left and have a cold drink in the only cafe by the lagoon. Not far - only about a 20 minute walk! The ladies that clean the room don't speak much English but this isnt a problem - you can get by with a little sign lanuage. Getting a drink did prove problematic on ocassions. The guys in the bar on the ground floor were either rude or ignorant - so we used the bar upstairs (Omar's I think it was called). Pointless complaining or getting upset with the guys downstairs as they don't care and to be honest it was obvious that they were happier to serve french, italian or german people as they could speak their lanuage - English just seemed to get fobed off - probably due to our reputation!!!! Anyway - Me and my hubby thought it was a good place to chill for a couple of weeks - holidayed from 1.10.11 to 14.10.11. Weather was stormy for the first few days (thunder storms and rain like you wouldn't believe) but the last 10 days were great - sun was lovely and hot and the rectangle pool was where most brits hung out. We met a great couple who we have kept in contact with and have seen since we have been back home. If you don't enjoy the resort lets hope you meet a great couple like we did - this made the holiday all the more memorable.

“Excellent Holiday & Certainly Value for Money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

My friend & I went middle of June to celebrate our 60th birthdays in July. Hotel & amenities are set in very large grounds. Stayed in a menzel over 2 floors, bathroom, and wardrobes with safe inside & fridge on ground floor then bedroom, TV & cupboards on next floor with stairs leading up to balcony. This was great as it was like us having our own little house on holiday.
Room was cleaned daily with towels & sheets changed even though we didn’t think they needed to be done at the time. Food very satisfactory at every meal with plenty of bottled water left in our fridge. Alcoholic drinks including wine not to the standard of our country but drinkable.
5 outside pools but we choose the oblong one near the beach as found that more relaxing & barman was very nice & polite. Most people preferred the others because they could get more of a variety in alcoholic & hot drinks.
Weather was absolutely fantastic so didn’t do any activities with entertainments team but did plenty of swimming instead. Only downside was there wasn’t anywhere to walk outside during the day or evening apart from a couple of small local shops across the road from the hotel. Did take horse/carriage ride into Midoun the first week & ride on horse/camels during our secons week.
Was certainly great value for money & a holiday spent with very friendly staff, which is always an added bonus.

“Good choice for some late summer sun”

Went there for some last minute late summer sun, and had a jolly good week at the end of October. The hotel is well situated with extensive grounds overlooking the coast. The food was fine - the wine less so ! The gin also seemed weak to the point of exhaustion ! We did wonder if it had been watered down ?? Staff were OK, and the hotel itself clean and well presented.

As two friends travelling together, we had a great relaxing week at an absolute bargain price.

“whats all the fuss???”

stayed in el mouradi 16th october for 1week, with partner and 10yr twin boys. firstly they loved it and wer asking when we would be going back even befor we left!!! the animation team wer fantastic, day and night. they didnt mither you if you just wanted to chill!, we stayed in a menzel (h block) with sea view, as requested in an email before we arrived. it had 2floors. on entering you had a living room with suite, tv, fridge. just off this was a large double bedroom with en suite (shower, bath, toilet, bidet). ther wer stairs from living room to another slighly smaller double room, again with en suite (shower, toilet), and balcony facing the sea which me and my partner had. rooms were cleaned every day, towels changed, bedding changed, the maid even tydied our shoes and any clothes that wer left lying about. there was a safe (easy to use) in childrens wardrobe, which we kept all valubles in. only down side was quite a bad smell of sewage at times, especialy when you flushed the loo. but as we didnt spend that much time in our rooms apart from changing and sleeping, thought it a bit trivial to complain. most overseas countries have some sewerage problems. The food was perfectly adequate, ok it wasnt 5* cordon bleu, but we wern't paying to stay at the ritz, i and the both boys are all quite fussy, but there was always something to eat. you can always get pancakes/pizza from 3pm at the main pool bar, or sandwiches from another one. as for people complaining about not being able to get bottled water during the day?, i took a tip form someone off trip advisor. when you go to lunch just ask for water and they will give you a bottle which you can take with you, failing that, go to ther little shop and buy one, for gods sake it cost about 40p, won't break the bank!! Now on to the waiters and bar staff. when you first arrive, try being polite and give them a small tip every so often. i did and while other more ignorant people qued and grunted there orders, i was greeted by my first name and served promptly, further more i was served 4 drinks at a time on many occaisions. remember manners don't cost anything!!!! also brush up on your french, we brits have only been goin to djerba since may, so being able to say hello, good morning, etc, or in my case 2white wines please in french gets you a long way:)
Ther was both smoking and no smoking, so no problems ther.yes ther are a lot of cats, but they didnt cause any problems that i could see, we didnt leave the complex so can't comment on shopping etc, although i believe the taxis are very cheap and another couple we met did recomend going to the steak house.
the beach is not the best i have seen but you can't blame el mouradi on how much sea weed ther is. they do ther best to clear it every day. they have a wide range of water sports payable either to one of ther reps located next to the games room, who give you a ticket to hand in at the aqua centre on the beach, or just purchase ther. we did the jet ski's (70 dinah for 2people for 20mins), banana boat (10 dinah each), fly fish (20 dinah each), the last one is not for the faint hearted!!!, they also do kayaks, pedeloes, water skiing and some inflatable sofa thingy??? i can also recommend the camel/horse ride, a 2hours ride along the beach, you can go by camel and ride back on horse back as did my boys. i decided to just do horse back, beware thou? i told them i had done some horse riding and was put on something from the grand national, (had never done jumps over sand dunes before this lol), well worth the money. lastly, the weather, generaly very warm, rained one afternoon so we all just got in the pool!!, all in all, brilliant holiday. yes i would recommend it, just expect to get what you pay for, and be polite!

Room Tip: email before hand and ask for sea view, tip the waiters and bar staff (better service), 1 dinah is 5...
