Hello all....me, my boyfriend and my mum went to tunisia in july 2009...year b4 we went as well and this time in 2009 we booked Primasol bcos some of the staff of hotel we went in 2008 recomended us to only book 4 star or more in Tunisia bcos they have different standard as in Europe....
Ok...so we booked 4 star Primasol el mehdi...which was very good choice , i mean only if u want to stay in the hotel and sunbathe....pool are great and warm, sea is amazing, but hotel is far from all the shops and life...
Food was really nice, rooms were cleaned every day , staff was very helpfull even not speaking english ..;)))
I would recommed to all of you if you are planning to go to tunisia book the hotel in resort called Hammamet jasmine...it is wonderfull part, with loads of shops, medina...but dont go under 4 star..;))))

“THE MOTHER OF ALL HOTELS - A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2009

We went to Tunisia in late October and stayed at this Hotel. Upon arrival at the Hotel everything seemed to be okay at first, however looks can be deceiving. We found when using the shower or bath the water was seeping up from the floor tiles. We asked to be moved and we were given another room on the same floor. The room we had changed to had damp patches out side the bedroom door and lots of flying insects in the corridor near the damp patches. In the end we gave up complaining.

The food in the Restaurant seemed to be always the same food. Re-heated Meat was the Hotels specialty and a different sauce covered the meat to try and enhance the taste. At breakfast time you could have cooked vegetables and not much else to choose from apart from the Re-heated meat from the previous night’s menu.

The All inclusive was a complete JOKE, however I don’t drink alcohol but family did and they had a choice of the following drinks:- Coke, watered down Beer, and still water (which was in fact TAP water) and Tunisian Wine which was apparently tasted like the fluid from the breaks of a Car.

I tried to get Orange Juice which wasn’t Orange Juice, in the end we went to the local supermarket and purchased bottles water and other items to keep in the fridge in the bedroom.

Most of the Reception staff were not very helpful and seemed to be more interested in serving the German holiday makers; if you were not German, you didn’t get any help.

We would like to point out that we do not have any grudge against any German people, however the hotel WAS FULL OF GERMAN holiday makers and everything was in GERMAN, We wanted to attend one of the tours the HOTEL was advertising, however because we were not GERMAN we were not allowed to attend. This left the whole family feeling very Alienated.

Tunisia is a beautiful place and has a lot to offer tourists! I myself work in the Leisure industry and find that cowboy Hotels like this give a country a bad name. It is a shame that this particular Hotel is allowed to keep operating with such a poor service standard.

do not stay at this hotel recently got back would not go again, the rooms was dirty, meat raw, only larger on tap, red or white wine, nothing for older kids to do, got kids club for under 12's but they speak german, nothing around the hotel just dirt roads, they don't tell you that in medhia they only have a market on a friday thats it, the beach was nice if you can get there from being on the toilet so often, would not recomend this hotel to any one unless they can speak german

“Holiday from hell”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2007

Hi. I just returned from the El Medhi Hotel and it was a nightmare. We arrived in the hotel around 1am in the morning, we were shown to our rooms, our room had no blankets to start off with. and was facing a brick wall. We complained to recepion and we were told to wait two days until a group of 350 germans had left, The hotel was 95% german... so it was all catered for them, the english were treated as second class citzens. The food was really awful. There was cabbage for breakfast, you were lucky to get a fried egg ... there was nothing for the english tourist... while i was there around 20 people got food posioning, as the meat was undercooked and still had blood poring out. We were disgusted to only have had one viist from a thomson rep withen our ten day stay... and that was on the first day. We had to sort all our problems out ourselves. We later saw her and the airport , and informed her off the food posioning, all her reply was , did you have the doctor out to prove it????!!! The entertainment was poor as it was catered for the germans,,, the entertainment was in a room across the other side of hotel, you had to walk to recepion bar to fetch your drinks, the nighttime shows were not that good at all. The ALL inclusive drinks part was a rip off, all you could have free was cola, sprite, soft drinks, gassy watered down bear, red or white wine or cocktails after 8pm , which they mde everyone have a bad stomach. Being a young girl, me and my sister were constantly harrases going to the shops, what little shops they have by locals wanting dates and to be our guides... everytime we left the hotle was nightmare so in the end we were confined to the hotel... which then you were still harrased by employees of the hotel in the complex wanting to take you on dates etc etc.... I would never visit this hotel again!! Worst hotel i have been. The surrounding area is also a dump and theres absolotuely nothing to do, it was like being in a prison camp for 10 days""" DONT GO THERE

“Beautiful hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2007

The el mehdi was an absolutley beautiful hotel, set right on a glorious white sand beach. The sea was warm and clear, i have never seen a nicer beach!the hotel stood in beautiful, clean, well maintained gardens filled with palm trees and other exotic plants. Our room was also amazing, it was spacious and cleaned everyday by the maids and the air con was fab!our room also had views of the sea and beach, which was lovely.the weather was beautiful all holiday,it was very hot(about 34-40 degrees celcius every day!we forgot what clouds looked like!!the maids in the hotel couldn't do enough for you and the entertainers, especially Tom,were brilliant, and the kids club always looked like they were having fun! There was lots to do in the day, the entertainment team always kept everyone amused, whether they had you playing waterpolo, doing aerobics and aqua aerobics,or playing some silly game, you never got bored in the day! During the holiday my friends and I went on a boat trip,it was very cheap(about ten pounds) that included all your drinks(no alcohol was served though!)entertainment(a bit amateur but still very fun!) and also a meal which consisted of freshly grilled fish and salad and bread and watermelon-the fish wasn't to everyone's taste but i enjoyed it!while on the boat,we saw some huge jelly fish which were very scary and dolphins!that was definitely the highlight! On the hotel's beach, there are water-sports run by a local who is absolutely lovely and will give you a good price if you ask!we went on the banana boat, which was good but not very bouncy, because the sea was always so calm!and we also went on the jet skiis which was really fun! Where i feel this hotel let itself down, was the staff.Being English at this hotel we were definitely in the minority,it is run by a german chain of hotels, so as you can guess most of the guests were German. the staff(restaurant and bar) definitely favoured the Germans.we constantly found oursleves being served last even when we had been waiting at the bar for a lot longer than the germans they served before us.this was very irritating, but we didn't let it spoil our holiday! The restaurant was huge and there was always alot of choice, there was always fish, some sort of meat(one day it was rabbit!!eww!) and chicken and potatoes and sometimes chips.but again,we felt that the food was directed more at the german guests.the food was of good quality and there was fresh salad and pasta at very meal.the best thing about the restaurant was the pizza oven!thats what me and my friends lived off!every lunch and dinner, fresh pizzas were made in the restaurant, the only downside was that there was always a huge queue for it!breakfast wasn't the best,it consisted of weird looking hot food and yogurts and stuff.there was a toaster, so i just ate marmite(which i brought from home!) on toast every day!one thing i would definitely say is bring your pg tips!!the tea over there just isn't the same! the worst thing about the holiday was the resort,it is perfect for families, but with my group being aged 18/19 there was just nothing to do at night!we found ourselves going to bed at ten most nights!we were no where near any clubs or bars or anything and i imagine a taxi wud cost a fortune to the next town!Mahdia is a very traditional area of tunisia, which i guess is the reason it is so beautiful, its not very built up at all.the problem of nightlife would be the only thing stopping us from goin back!also the whole you have to be over 21 to drink is a load of rubbish!we wer never even quizzed about our age,and there wer kids who looked about 14 being served alcohol!ther was a club in our hotel, but yet again,it was german music and full of germans,so we stayed away!they definitely weren't the friendliest i've ever come across. oh, one more thing which we weren't happy about was the lack of choice in alcoholic drinks.you could hav red/white wine(which im sure were watered down) and beer, yes that really was all you got all inclusive, apart from after 8 o clock at night you could have a 'bukha'(locally produced spirit) cocktail which was nice but was the same as the other alcohol,no chance of making you even a little tipsy!apart from the drinks and the nightlife it was a fab holiday and i would not hesitate to reccomend it to families and people who aren't nightlife lovers!i wish i could pick the hotel and beach up and plonk it somewhere lively,it would be perfect!one more thing,if you visit the market or the hotel shop, don't forget to haggle!!you will always get the price you want as they are so poor they don't want to turn away any money!i got a huge ceramic dish hand painted with a camel on for ten dinar(About 4pounds!!)very cheap!if you are going to this hotel im sure you'll have a wonderful time as it is in the most beautiful place and make sure you join in with all the activities!!!also,we got he holdiay very cheap(600pounds for 2wks all inlusive!)so was worth every penny!
