I went on my honeymoon in sept 09 to this place and caught compilebactor, which is a serious food poisoning. I complained to Thomas Cooke two days after i payed forn thew holiday and demanded my money back as i had seen reports of this food poisoning on trip adviser. I was told to ignore trip adviser and was told there was no food poisoning at this hotel. I was only there two days before i came down with it. Thomas Cooke admitted primary liability and i've just recieved my first offer today of £1'500 which i have turned down. Not only that but the waiters are ingnorent, cheeky and leave the English standing while they take care of other guests. Would never go back

NOUR PALACE HOTEL MAHDIA
Many thanks to Director Missaoui Wissem for the hospitality he extended to my guests from The SOS Children's Village in Akouda. So many thanks also to all the staff involved. You all helped to give the children a great time and they loved every minute. Shukran and Happy New Year to you all! xx

I had to write to let people know what happened as a result of our stay at this place 2 years ago. I contracted Shigella whilst staying at this hotel. A form of food poisoning contracted by lack of hygeine - a person responsible for handling food not washing thier hands having been for a poo!! I had only 2 days holiday as the rest was spent being very ill.
My illness caused me to have a dairy intolerance, off work for 6 weeks and feeling dreadful.
Enviromental health involved but little they could do as the illness was caused by an incident abroad.
I have now received a full refund on the cost of the hoilday for the 5 of us from the tour operator (via solicitors). This says it all.

I would recommend this hotel I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much for them. The day time events were very well organised. The spa is worth a visit. The only downside is the hotel mainly cater for every nationality except English. I would like to make a return visit next year it was that good,.

Room Tip: The best rooms are over looking the pool and not at the back of the hotel.

“An experience we will be happy to forget!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

We had a terrible experience whilst staying here from the moment we got off the plane, over and hour and a half to get through the airport, we were put onto a coach and after an hour or so we were kicked off in the middle of nowhere, the driver who couldnt speak english was shouting at us and throwing our cases to the curb, we were then asked by the driver to go to another bus which was not thomas cook but local and had no lights or seat belts, we were on this for another hour and half, 3hrs in total to get there!! we had no representive from thomas cook meet us at the resort and nobody showed up to our welcome meeting which we were horrified by, it took 2 days for a rep to visit and he stayed for 15 mins and said he was too busy and had to leave, he even gave us false advice about a market and a local safe town and when we got there it wasnt there!! we never saw him again and nobody showed again for the transfers or journey home, this again was nearly 3 hrs on a coach to the airport, the food was very poor quality and there was a very limited choice available, it was very basic with breakfast consisting of cabbage, cheese and some cereal, they had bread but no butter or a toaster, my partner tried an ommlette but the egg was raw and runny and they couldnt understand the request to cook these through... lunch and evening meal was the same everyday with only a choice of a couple of hot meals but we often had raw meat and cold hard rice and so chose to go hungry most days... I was ill almost everyday and most couples we spoke to felt the same and we all had been to see a doctor which is expensive and difficult to converse with as English is not well spoken... there was no entertainment and at times you couldnt get a drink or any food and so we had to carry water everywhere as could have hours with nothing available, they ran out of towels and so we couldnt sit by the pool some afternoons, we were all quoted different prices for extras with the english seemingly being charged highly over the average price, they wanted 30.00 GBP to play a 3 hole pitch and putt only to not be in use anyway, they said they had nobody to clear the course... we saw no other extras or activities whilst staying there, we were asked for 50 GBP for late check out but were told due to circumstances we could only have the room for 3 hrs and not the whole day which we wouldnt pay and so we had no facilities for almost a whole day.... The worst of all was the staff asking for money and cigarettes, we do not even smoke but were asked rather aggressively in some cases for fags from the hotel staff, they argue with you and it felt like harassment, we were asked time and time again for money for them and their families whilst we were trying to relax by the pool or when we were going to the resteraunt, they would even tap you whilst you had a book in your hand and earphones in, it made the experience so awful and far from relaxing... We were so upset we asked to come home early which we couldnt do, we had no rep presence at all at the resort and we felt completely alone couldnt wait to come home and forget about it...
