“Excellent holiday amazing value for money”

From the moment we arrived we loved the hotel. We were welcomed with a cocktail and had our room upgraded. I also forgot an adaptor and they gave us one at reception for free to use for the week. The room was fantastic on top floor overlooking the main pool. Food and drinks were all excellent a good varierty every day and the freshly made omelletes every morning were a real treat. Beware if you ask for a vodka and coke etc you will have two thirds alcohol so make sure you say just a little. We went to the beach straight away which was lovely and the camel ride. The people there will give you a price and we managed to more than halve it every time. It's definitely a place to go to haggle and grab some real bargains. The shish bar in the hotel was nice but if you go to a bar outside the hotel you get more for your money. The medina trip through Thomas Cook was really worthwhile although the Carthage tour was a bit disappointing as the Museum was partly closed and it was meant to be a full day trip and we were back in the resort at 2pm. The entertainment staff at the hotel were really nice and had us doing activities throughout the week. The indoor pool was lovely with heated sea water the only downside was that it's only open 12-3 but we were in there until almost 4 one day and had it to ourselves. On the whole this was a fantastic hotel just a short stroll to the beach and great value as we only paid £220 each for the week all inclusive through Thomas Cook. We will definitely go be going back in the summer.

Room Tip: Top floor at far end of hotel

“Non smokers..beware!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Arrived at the Iberostar Belisaire 8th January. The first thing we noticed as we walked in was this is definatly a smokers hotel! We had 3 different 'no smoking' rooms before we settled on the fourth as they all wreaked of cigarette smoke! This was also a bone of contention for the remainder of the holiday. There were 2 main lounge areas,The main Lounge/entertainment room was the worst, especially during the evenings as this was full of smoke! (This room also backed onto the restaurant where if you sat immediately in front of the open double doors whilst you were eating, smoke would most certainly drift in.) We felt we couldn't sit and enjoy the evening entertainment because of this and often wondered to the other hotels down the road. As this was January and not the warmest of months,it was either wrap up well to go outside for a walk,or endure the smoke! The food was pretty basic, not a lot of choice but more than edible. Watch out for the man in white who worked in the Spa. I always have treatments in hotels but he hassled me that much, he became a pain and I avoided him wherever possible! I have to say the rest of the staff were very nice and helpful, especially restaurant waiter Salime and barman Rambo! Norman the reception clerk was more than helpful too.We met a lovely couple in their 60's who had been treated rather appallingly by the area thomas cook rep who in turn had to pay extra to move to another hotel as they couldn't stand to stay there. On the whole, the Iberostar chain has let itself down as the last one we went to in Brazil was out of this world (with separate smoking areas) This was supposed to be a 4* hotel but after 10 nights, this hotel would be lucky to scrape by a 3*.

Dear guest,

Thank you for writing a comment from your stay in Iberostar Belisaire. Please receive our most sincere apologies for mailing to meet your expectations. We know how uncomfortable is when you are a not smoker and you have smokers around.

Our hotel has separate areas for smokers. The main restaurant is a not smoking area like also the reception area. The Bloc C is a no smoker’s room with a “No smoker” sign in each room. The Shows take place in the Le Shark bar, where is allowed to smoke. We do our best to make our guest to respect the no smoking areas.

The head departments have been informed about your comments and we are sure they will help us to improve.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your positive comments regarding the amiability of our staff.

Yours sincerely,

I arrived back on the 22nd of jan, the hotel is nice when you enter but, the food was cold, most people who were on holiday with us spent a few days in bed sick, we had our property taken, and there saftey and hygiene in the hotel was awful, the only good things i have to say about the place was the other people on holiday there were some of the best people i have ever met, and a couple of the bar staff were exceptional: RAMBO AND ALEX they were the highlight of the hotel, i have been on alot of holidays and alot of hotels and this is far from a 4 star i would say a 2 on a good day, yasmin its self is like a ghost town but even then you still get hasseled, friends of ours were robbed on the beach in all fairness i came back feeling like i needed a holiday

The hotel itself is great, the food is also very good, lots of variety. The staff are friendly and make u feel very welcome. The marina and medina are quite quiet this time of year (1st Jan- 8th Jan) but still nice litte walk to them both. There is a little cafe called Relax cafe right next to the hotel which does yummy food and drink with welcoming staff, if u fancy a change for a night.

Just go with an open mind and enjoy urself!

What we like about it? The staff and especially the manager are very warm and friendly. Its home away from home. I would give it 5 stars. The service was second to none (excellent). Christmasdinner and New Years eve both were fantastic! See you in October I simply can't stay away
