“just don't go there!!!”

if you are planning a trip to bahia beach resort, just don't do it, cleanliness is poor because the bed sheets were dirty and had to ask for them to get changed and the rooms were very dark as there was no lighting and they were dingy, they didn't cater for the English tourists regarding food and entertainment and if it wasn't for a lovely Irish couple i would have left te same day, he only good point is that it as set in a good location,

i need say no more, just don't do it

“Dont stay at this hotel, it was awful!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2010

Booked this all inclusive 4* hotel through Sunway Travel. It was definitely not 4* at all, I would rate it a 2* at best. We arrived at 12 midnight to be met by the most rudest receptionist and porters we have ever experienced in all our travels. When eventually we were brought to our rooms, what a shcok we got. They were so basic, not 4* standard as we expected, the rugs were filthy and bedcovers had not been changed, we slept in our clothes on top of the covers, a nightmare.. the carpet on the corridors were also filthy. Next morning we called our rep Susan (Sunway) she was a pet, such a lovely woman, she organised to have us moved to a suite, which was basic but very clean and at least it was acceptable. She organised for us to have an iron, (which we thought would have been a standard item in a 4* hotel)
The dining room resembled a canteen, although in fairness the food was not bad, the young waiters at our table were such lovely guys, so it was a pleasure to have them serve us at meal times. The young bartenders were equally as nice and service in the bar was exceptional.
The animation team were a bit much at times, evening entertainemnt was ok. These guys were so much in our face, they became a nuisance by the end of the holiday. We did enjoy our holiday although we had a bad start to ,it, we will not return to this hotel or tunisia for that matter...I hope Sunway Travel appreciate their rep Susan, she was our saviour over there, a lovely person..

“Excellent value for money, lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2009

Pleasantly surprised after reading negative Tripadvisor reviews on this hotel before we left.
Positives:-
Beautiful pool area and gardens well maintained and landscaped.
Room spacious as we were given a suite with superking bed and connecting room with twin foldaway beds and chairs. Room was light as on a corner with plenty windows and large balcony.
Roomed was cleaned daily and fresh towels always supplied.
Corridoors and lobby area very clean and marble floors throughout.
Food was freshly cooked and plenty of variety, quite nice though not as spicy as we had hoped. Lovely dessert section.
Restaurant immaculate with tables decorated with flower petals often and candles on an evening. Nice ambience.
Bar service excellent - always happy to give you the all inclusive drinks! wine,- pallatable.
Pool table, air hockey, pin ball and video games in bar, disco in large bar, table tennis and french bowls available outside.
Friendly polite waiters, barman, animation team, cleaners. Staff did their best to communicate in English.
Hotel very close to beach area which was very nice and very clean.
We felt safe at this hotel and at the price we paid, it worked out at £10 per person all inclusive per night for a 14 night stay in a 4 Superking 4 person suite.
We were the last guests in the hotel as they closed on 1st of November and rather than kick us out (our flight was 10pm that night) they transferred us to their other hotel Tunisia lodge 5 minutes away which was similar but more upscale and nicer than this hotel. They even got a manager to move us and our luggage there, and gave us a room (even nicer suite than last hotel) to use until we checked out at 6.30pm. Very generous.

Negatives:-
Gym equipment - only exercise bike and barbells in working order.
Outdoor pool icy cold and too cold to swim in during October.
Outdoor Jacuzzi did not work.
Indoor pool jets did not work.
Indoor pool was too hot to swim in for first 12 days of our hols.
No slide in outdoor pool as pictured.
No laundry facilities as stated other than pay extortionate prices for hotel staff to do your laundry. I did ours by hand in the bathtub.
Outdoor wooden railings on balcony paint flaking badly.
No canoes or pedal boats for the kids at this time of year on the beach.
No English tv channel other than world news.
Spirits were definately watered down at the bar (to be expected I suppose)

I would definately stay there again if returning to Tunisia for the price we paid as it was a lovely hotel with clen and pretty grounds, in a nice area of Yasmine Hammamet. Above negatives did not detract too much from our enjoyment of the holiday.

“Good and bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2009

Firstly I would like to say that the animation team were great. Without them I don't think we would have got through the week. They run aqua aerobics in the am and water polo in the pm. They have shows at night which are not top class, but the dancing is good fun. They make an effort to include everyone. I made a bit of a show of myself but hey your hol is what you make it. The music was different - I enjoyed it. It was a flavour of the country / jolly music. If you go outside the EU you can't expect top chart hits and it nice to experience something different.

WARNING ABOUT SAFETY - the safety in the hotel needs to be improved. All of the stairs are marble with no railings or grips. The maids were washing the floors one morning and there was no signage to this effect. I slipped and fell down the stairs which was like a skating ring. I was lucky enough to survive with just bad brusing and a twisted ankle. The sockets in the room were falling off.

NO KETTLE or tea making facilities so bring a small one if you need your caffeine like me.

When we arrived at the room in the early hours of the morning on the first night, there was no pillow on my bed. We had to ask for one from reception and were a while waiting and then this guy arrived with A BED. We gave up and just made a make do pillow with beach towels so I agree with previous views about the lack of english! One of the couples that arrived with us were escorted to their room and when they went in they discovered somebody else in their bed. They said they wanted room service but not to that extent.

SUNBEDS - can be a rush on them - they are reserved from early morning by some people putting towels on them but if you ask the lifeguard if he can reserve you some he will.

The place is huge and there is no proper signage so we spent half and hour the first day trying to find our room. The reception staff are best avoided at all costs as they were very rude. We had a fantastic sunway rep out there every morning without fail and if we needed anything we spoke to her. She was able to talk to reception for us then.

Tunisians have no concept of how we live - evident in the music being played in the canteen. Christmas music like holy night and we wish you a merry christmas at the breakfast. So funny.

The food was not great - the coffee was like tar. I stuck to pancakes in the morning - you have to wait a while for the chef to cook them in front of you and there can be large queues but at least you know what you're eating and that its fresh. The bread roles were always crisp. The pasta bar was the best at nightime. The other food was not to my taste. It was a bit cold and bland.

There is a strong muslim presence in the country and so not too much alcohol - but who needs it. There are no bars but it can be risky taking alcohol and that in the sun. There is plenty of beer. I drank water instead though. I needed to keep my hydration up with the heat.

One of the staff kept asking me out and brining me flowers - I asked him to stop and he persisted. At first it was funny but then it turned annoying. He wasn't around the last few days thank god but if he was I think I would have complained.

Even with all these bad points which every holiday has, I did enjoy the week. It was cheap, we had the sun and we got away from all the doom and gloom. We did not hear the word recession all week!
