All we wanted was a lovely relaxing week away in the sun, little did we know what lay ahead! On arrival the hotel looked lovely. It was clean with very good decor and lots of plush leather settees. We were shown to our room which was pleasant and had a lovely big balcony. After unpacking we went down to sample the delights of all-inclusive. This is where our troubles began.
We eventually got served at the bar, more often than not this took a good 10-15 minutes. The glasses were badly chipped or cracked. I don't think we ever had an undamaged glass during our entire stay! Beer was served in 1/2 pint glasses only and even then not filled to the top, only local spirits were available (which we expected) however this was weak whisky and no brandy. It was a total pain as we were forever queueing at the bar - unlike the other guests - who pushed in and failed to queue. More about that later. The posters say that cocktails (with or without alcohol) are included in all-inclusive, but this was not the case. They were charging £4 per cocktail! Later in the week we solved this problem, by asking the waiter to get our drinks and Sabeour even managed to get brandy for us! He was a star and a credit to this hotel. We found that we had to sit outside by the pool in the evenings to enjoy our drinks because the bar was full of smoke making it very unpleasant for any non-smokers.
The evening entertainment was abyssmal. It comprised of a team of young local people which was very child orientated. I'm sure that karaoke would have been far better amusement and catering for the adults. We even missed a folklore evening down by the beach with a hog roast bbq because we were told by the entertainment staff that this was on the following evening - wrong! Daily activities were organised such as darts, aqua-aerobics, even archery with only 2 arrows for a 15 minute session, regardless of how many people wanted a go. The brochure states "Fishing on site" but when we enquired at reception they said "What fishing?" They hadn't a clue. Good job we didn't take our fishing tackle. They were even charging for ice-creams when we were informed that this was included in all-inclusive. We had to pay for our room safe and also a fridge in the room, again stated in the brochure that a fridge was included. We were not informed that we could obtain free bottles of water from the bar, only towards the end of the holiday did we learn this and after we had spent money buying it from the supermarket.
The food was absolutely awful and monotonous. My partner was very ill for 3 days before getting a taxi to the chemist for medication which remedied the situation. One evening we even had to take a taxi to a restaurant because there was nothing which looked the slightest bit edible. However, the Germans took great delight in fllling plates full of food to feed to the stray cats roaming the hotel gardens. Beware of the Eastern European stampede when the canteen doors open!! We observed that one of the chefs had grease at least 10cms up the back of his trouser legs which he got from them dragging on the floor in the kitchen and these were not changed at all during our entire stay.
Most of the staff were not very friendly at all. Only the odd ones were sociable, namely Saboeur the waiter, our male room cleaner and a couple of waiters in the restaurant. We were pestered to death on a daily basis by the resident jewellry seller. However, we did mention to the manager that one of the doors was keeping us awake at night by banging in the wind, and this was secured very shortly afterwards, even though it was 10 o'clock at night.
There was only one other English couple at the hotel with whom we struck up a great friendship and who helped to make it an enjoyable holiday. The Germans, Russians and Czechs were downright rude, arrogant and spoiled it for us.
It may seem that we are tight skinflints, but when you go All-Inclusive you expect not to have to pay out much more whilst you are on holiday, and do expect things advertised in the brochure to be available. This was simply not the case.
We did read comments on Trip Advisor before we went but as these were a few years old, we decided to give Hotel Nesrine a chance - bad mistake. This hotel caters for the Germans and Russians only. It is certainly not a 4 star as advertised, more like a 2 star rating. We would certainly NOT recommend it to anyone. Our local travel agents have been made aware of our comments and we will be writing to Cosmos to notify them too. Be warned, don't go there!!!
