After reading all the negative reviews about this hotel, I was slightly apprehensive about where I was going.
However my friend and I turned up and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely helpful. I need a flat pillow to sleep on, and after requesting this I was sent one straight away. They showed us where everything was and immediately we felt comfortable there.
The rooms are a good standard for what you pay and were always well cleaned and presented with lovely decorations. We had a lovely view from our balcony over the pool area, which was well kept with a garden area around it. The shower was very good, and there was plenty of space. Only complaint here was that the phone didnt work, however didnt notice this till the end of our stay as we never needed it!
We stayed half board and really enjoyed the food at breakfast and dinner - a wide choice and great omlette chef in the morning! I'd want more fresh fruit available, but I found that in general this was a bit scarce in Tunisia - apart from oranges!
Lots of great trips to do - and we had great fun doing these at a good price.
The hotel is set in a good location, just a short walk from the beach, which is very clean, and not far from carthalage land, and where you can catch the noddy train through to the main city of Hammamet.
We were pleased to stay in Yasmine Hammamet as it seemed safer and cleaner and it was presented nicer as a place.
The hotel staff were great for us, giving us everything we need and the animators who do the entertainment in the day and night were very friendly and put great effort into their shows!
It is a mainly French speaking hotel, they were interested in us as we spoke English and they dont seem to get many there. - we quite enjoyed that it wasnt full of British tourists, but understandably some shows spoke French - but they did speak in English also to engage us - which we didnt expect. So it was kind of the animatours! We generally understand, but do not speak French so we were ok.
Overall it is a lovely hotel. It is diffiicult to get drink in the country, let alone in the hotel for religious purposes, which we could only respect. There is wine, whisky and some basic spirits - there is a club (discoteque) attached to the hotel with a bowling theme, and also a bowling lane, which was amusement for a couple of nights. No need to drink a lot to go first really as due to religion most people are there for a good time without that side of things. We did bowl once, it was an old style bowling lane, but was ok.
We would definitely go back, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. It certainly didnt deserve the bad reviews previously, and we felt quite passionately about that.
