The receptionist, Meriam Hasani was horrible and should be fired!! She was abusive, aggressive, discriminatory and disrespectful. We came to the hotel and paid in advance for 2 nights. It was Ramadan, but they were serving alcohol at the bar. The barman, Ben Ali, served me and my husband a few bottles of beer, then decided to tell my husband that he should not drink because he looks Arab (we are both American, and not Muslim). He then told my husband to put on his sunglasses so no one could see him. When I demanded to speak to the manager, he refused to call him, and told me I had to walk (quite a distance) to the reception. This is where our experience went from bad to worse. Meriam Hasani, the receptionist, told me that it is Ramadan, and I can drink (I am caucasion) but not my husband. I told her he is American, and she said "the passport doesn't matter - he has Tunisian blood." Then she patronized me, and said, "Do you know Ramadan? Go get your husband to explain it to you." (I have a PhD, have traveled the world, and lived in Muslim countries. I am respectful of the religious traditions of other cultures, which is why I booked our vacation at an Italian resort). She REFUSED to bring a manager to talk to me, and finally after I brought my husband she refunded our money for the second night only. She then shouted at me across the lobby as I was walking away. We didn't use the room other than to drop our bags for two hours, and they caused us to be so upset that we left. Meriem and Ben Ali completely ruined our vacation.

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms were dirty & gross. Horrible beds and linens. The bathrooms were awful. The food was also horrible. We'll never go back there ever again.

I went there with wife in August 2010 for pleasure. We were impressed with the architecture of the hotel, it was absolutely stunning. The second we walked in the smell of the cigarettes at the lobby was so strong that made my wife runs to the swimming pool area to get some fresh air. So I went down to the front desk to check in. I waited for at least 10 mins before one of the front desk people asked for help. The food was good the first day and then after that went downhill. The room was in a great condition but the AC was leaking. We asked for a clean towel at 8 in the morning and we’ve been told that they are no clean towels until noon. Later on I’ve been told from locals that I wasn’t tipping enough. For me to have a decent service I have to tip everyone starting from the bellman all the way to the general manager
