“Staff Trip”

I was lucky enjoy to travel with a group for work in April 2011. Lucky for us we had fantastic weather so could enjoy the hotel fully. Impressive lobby area with a piano player in the evenings, lobby bar great to catch up after the day with a drink before dinner. Main buffett restaurant was fantastic and there was always something for everyone, even on themed nights. Ate in the thai al a carte which I personally didn't rate this but then again I'm not big on thai food! Beautiful beach with beach bar and watersports. Staff were friendly as always and so helpful, perfect for famililes! Evening entertainment is the same at all Holiday Village's and it always impresses me, i5live kids disco is great fun even for the adults! As this was work we got to see all rooms which are all newly decorated and very modern, stayed in a kids den with seperate bedroom area with bunkbeds, beanbags, tv and playstation for littles ones, but these come with no balcony. Highly recommend for families looking for a relaxing but fun break. I personally have no children but would return here!

Room Tip: Kids dens are greta for families, no balcony though. Family or superior family rooms were fantastic!

“Danger!! Torrential rain!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Hotel very clean and staff very attentive. Beach BRILLIANT. Flies drove me nuts. Beach very very good and everything on site nicely close together without being crowded. No bacon, unfamiliar cereals and 'odd' juices only comments on an otherwise excellent restaurant and snack bar. Would NOT recommend again for HALF TERM but might consider again in summer if Rhodes (family's favourite) fully booked. As it's literally end of season (many hotel staff leaving day before and reps returning on same flights) sunshine is far from guaranteed (3 days of our 7 - keep an eye on weather forecasts to maximise beach/shop planning) and in our case we were hit with torrential rain on transit out day which closed the airport and most of the roads out. Obviously the weather is outside first choices control but the decision to make the transit from the hotel to another airport (rather than wait at the near closed hotel until the waters subsided and roads were passable without danger) was and whilst all four coaches (including the elderly, babies, children and the infirm) thankfully made it through for a much delayed flight, the memory of those blocked roads that at times had become canals (or often as if weirs with rivers crossing them!) with water seemingly on all sides (not to mention the sight of abandoned cars and coaches en route) will colour my partners view of the holiday for some time to come; the driver on our coach certainly earned his generous tip! Thankfully my son and other children were blissfully oblivious to the danger but many parents were starting to panic! If it wasn't end of season with the hotel shutting, reps leaving etc etc 'perhaps' a 'wait until it is safe' alternative plan would have been initiated - disaster movie scenes are best watched rather than participated in and if I'd wanted any danger to spice up my holiday I'd not have selected a holiday village in the first place! October half term go to holiday village Egypt instead!

“Holiday Village excellent as always”

We visited HV Manar during Oct half term - 2 adults and 2 girls aged 13 and 10.

This was the 4th HV we had been to (others were Majorca, Costa del Sol & Turkey) and we enjoyed it just as much as the others.

The room was really spacious and in a great location - ground floor in Manar 2 right next to activity pool - but I'm not sure that it should be rated 5* as the finish in the bathroom and toilet was a bit rough and ready.

Food was superb and there was always plenty of choice although the kids struggled a bit at times as they are quite fussy.

The bits that really impressed us were the communal areas such as the lobby, pools and restaurant.

Not much point commenting on the entertainment as when the hotel reopens next season all the First Choice entertainers will have changed.

On the downside we were plagued with flies on the sunbed (tip:- take your own flyspray to spray on sunbed. We managed to find some in a local shop) and we also found that there was definitely an end of season feeling as the hotel was closing on our last day.

Can't understand why you have to pay for drinks in the Sports Bar. This is annoying as it is the only bar that shows the football on TV.

5 1/2 hour delay on way home due to torrential rain but can't blame First Choice for that. It does seem that the new airport at Enfidha still has some teething problems but hopefully they will sort them out soon.

All in all for the price we paid we found this to be a good value holiday.

“Lovelly hotel modern decore and very clean.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We arrived on the 9th October. We were recieved by first choice staff it was exstremly busy and we were told we had to wait for our room which would take up to hours. My husband then asked the manager if this could be improved and he was very professional and promissed us this would be sorted with in a half an hour are room was ready.
The rooms we had were fabulous seperate lounge and large size bedroom with king size bed all beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had a seaview which was amazing and very large balcony perfect.
The dining room was art decor again and lovelly. The food was excellent so much choice you would not starve the staff were very friendly and tables were cleaned imediatley.
The only complaint was there was so many flies which very iratating . The pools areas were lovelly and again very clean and there was choice for both adults and children.
We were a couple and there was a lot children but we knew this when we booked. I would like to add that maybe there could have been more entertainment for us adults and maybe a adult bar area away from the children.
Overall we had a fab holdiay at this hotel and would definetly recommend.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a surperior and seaview room worth it.
