We have been going to this hotel since 2003. This year will be our 12th time to the Bel Air. In 2009 this hotel went under new management & the entertainment team was replaced etc, I love the Bel Air & it is like my second home, however I can agree with some reviews during the time of 2009/2010 as the Bel Air had certainly changed & wasn't like it used to be. The Bel Air is now back under old management with the old entertainment back & I can't wait to return in August.
From the moment you arrive at the Bel Air you get a warm welcome, all of the staff are very friendly & helpful. The Hotel has 3 bars, Cheers Bar, Four Seasons & Las Palmas. Four Seasons is the Hotel Bar & closes at night after the entertainment however Cheers Bar & Las Palmas stay open till the early morning playing loud music. If you want to go out of the Hotel at night just over the road is a nightclub called Latinos (formerly British Bar) & also if you go out the hotel and turn left there is Shakespeare run by an English woman & her husband this usually has a drag show on on a tuesday & friday night which is hilarious. Another club is Calypso, if you go out the hotel and turn left then continue straight up the street and turn left there it is, it is a huge nightclub & has had people such as David Guetta visit there.
There is plenty to do during the day also. Go out of the hotel and turn right & then right again, keep walking along and you will see the beach. It is about a 5min walk from the hotel, there is a shop at the top of the beach where you can buy big bottle of pop & water for the price of a can of pop in some places. The drinks are kept in a fridge & are nice a cold to help cool you down on the beach. There is plenty to do on the beach, there are several beach bars to eat at, you can go out on pedalos, para gliding, jet skiis & a big sofa type thing called 'Great Big Mable' all of which are great fun. People do try and sell you several things on the beach such as jewelry, cigarettes, nuts, doughnuts, & ashtrays etc but if you say no they will leave.
You can take a taxi into Yasmine Hammamet & visit all the shops, go ice skating or visit Carthage Land which is a large theme park which contains all sorts of rides, shops & restaurants. Also visit Friguia Zoo, a great day out & you get to see all the animals, Lions, Tigers, cheetahs etc & watch the sea lion show. There is also a dolphin show at the zoo & you can swim with dolphins all you need to do is book 24hrs before you want to go. At night time at the zoo is the 'African Dream' night, I have heard good things about it & hope to go this year.
There are several excursions you can go on Pirate Ship, Quad Bikes & Camel Trip. All of which are a great experience & a lot of fun for all the family.
Please do not listen to the negative reviews. This hotel is amazing & holds a lot of happy memories for me. The Hotel is back under its old management & is a great place to stay. I have recently spoke to several people who have returned & they have nothing but good things to say about the Bel Air.
I can't wait to return this August.
