I booked this holiday in October via thomas cook after reading all the reviews. I paid £760 in total for 1 week, half board. I noticed a couple of bad reviews but generally overall they didn't appear to be too bad. So I thought it might be ok.
When we arrived at the hotel you are greated with an awful sewage/eggy smell, not very pleasant and the the reception area is very tired and needs a lot of attention. We received a welcome drink as we missed dinner which I thought was a nice gesture and that maybe it wasn't as bad as it looked. However it got worse, the marble floors throughout the hotel were cracked, aswell as in my room along with some missing bath panel tiles. The bath itself was dirty and the cleaner never cleaned around the sink area as my partner spilt a bit of hair gel on the tap on the first morning and it was still there by the end of our stay. The walls are like paper thin, you can hear everything from the person next door's tv, them in the shower, flushing the toilet to sneezing and coughing!
The food is awful, if you are a fussy eater which my partner is he couldn't eat hardly anything and lived off chips and bread most of the week. I on the other would try anything and I have to say I even found it hard trying to find something to eat. The food also never changes, its always the same. The food is mostly traditional tunisian cusine. By the end of the week I was sick of chicken and rice/couscous.
The only good bit about our trip was the two day sahara explorer trip we booked through the rep and also the welcome tour. We did another trip called the africian dream. However it was a big let down as the zoo was very poor, hardly any animals and the entertainment afterwards just seemed to go on for ages! If you have already booked this hotel go to the residence of roman at least once, you may find yourself going back like we did, its a little restuarant just to the left of the hotel and is run by a british woman. They are very nice and is reasonably priced.
I believe I paid too much for this holiday and would rate it more of a 2 star hotel, anyone going to tunisia should consider at least a 4-5 star holiday. Im normally not a fussy person and can stay anywhere, but I wouldn't even recommend this holiday to use as a base unless you get it a very cheap price and I mean around £200pp. The resort of hammamet was also very dirty and no life to it.
This hotel has put me off ever going back to Tunisia and I would not recommend this to anyone!
