We travelled to vincci for 2weeks mid oct in a group of 9 of us including my 3year old little boy. I have to say you are travelling to tunisia and need to understand that they do not get passing tourism like turkey, egypt, mexico etc. so u cannot compare with them type of places. I am sure in 6-8years time they will have the experience and understand the english way so things they do will be allot different. Ok the hotel.... beautiful. the lobby/ reception area is gorgeous just what you would expect from a 4/5star. The rooms are a little bit shabby round the edges. very clean but balcony needs a repaint, vents need a dusting etc nothing major. very large and they was cleaned daily so no complaints atall. 1 thing i will say is more or less everyday the maids either left our balcony door open slighly or the handle on the balcony door was left up.Also you get a card as your door key... Do not put it near a mobile phone because as soon as you do then it swipes the room code and you have to keep going to reception to get it recoded... very annoying. The swimming pools are beautiful, childrens pool seperate and just the right depth and the main pool was large and very clean. We did have a spa day and have to say it was gorgeous. I am a beauty therapist myself and have to say the spa is to die for. we stayed 5star in turkey the year before and the spa there was not as nice as vinnci taj. The lads went on the quad bikes and booked through the hotel and said it was a fantastic day. The beach is just a stone throw away and and is stunning. The staff from the hotel/ beach bar and pool bar cannot do enough for you they are all very nice and do speak english very well. For some reason when the sun was going down the flies came out.. they was very annoying and there was allot of them. I do have to agree with previous comments that the reception staff are not as polite as you would expect. Ok the food. well i am a very fussy person when it comes to eating and i ate without their being a problem. Their was plenty of choice and the food is warm. you cant expect food to be boiling when it is served buffet style. their was fresh omelletes and pancakes in a morning with a large selection of cereals yoghurts fruits and also toast. In the evening their was fresh pastas, spag bol, paella on some nights, paninis and a special every night. Now the animation team. Im going to be honest. they dont really cater for the english. I dont know if it was because we was abit out of season but some of the shows were performed completly in french so was abit off putting. They did make an effort with the french and tunisians but not much with us english. We tipped often but not large ammounts and personally i think with or without the tips we would of received the same service each day/ night. One night our waiter had made up our table with rose petels and hearts it was a lovely touch and it was really appreciated.
We did go out every night and mainly went to the steak house down past joys. It is an english run bar and the steaks are to die for. We did go to shakesphere aswell which is down in hammamet and had the best night of our holiday there also it shuts when the last person leaves unlike shutting at 12 which everywhere in tunisia does including the hotel bars. The shakesphere was packed with english and the atmosphere was great. Our tour opertator never told us where to go and which bars had abit of life so we had to find out by ourselves and have to say these two places are defo worth a visit. The best day we had and is a must are the pirate ships........ my little boy loved it and they really have you on your feet... we went down to the harbour and asked the pirates of the ships if we could buy tickets. This worked out allot cheaper than booking it through the hotel. Their are 4 ships but we went on the columbas which is the newer one and was fantastic. You have to be very very careful with the tunisians as they do tell allot of lies, or twist the truth on occasions. so watch out and keep you wits about you. All in all it was a good holiday. If your looking for a chilled out holiday and dont mind spending the nights in the hotel then this is the place for you. A holiday is definatly what YOU make it and we made ours our own and had a fantastic holiday. All in all we probably wouldnt return to tunisia again but that is not down to the hotel its just our personal decision. :-)
