“Great !!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

I travelled to Le Zenith with my 23yr old daughter (Yes two Females alone in Tunisa). We had a ball. We arrived at 5.00am and were soon checked in to a bright green and orange room, but it was ok, a bit dated but perfectly clean. We tipped the maid the odd pound coin and she looked after us very well.
The food was good as long as you not a picky eater, but there were chips and pasta also plenty of tunisian food, the soup was lovely. The staff were friendly and kept the tables clean and tidy.
Dont expect to get tipsy never mind drunk at the bar , and the cocktails looked and tasted like fab lollies, I would buy a couple of bottles of spirits at the duty free next time. Pool area was ok, the beach was awsome, we did the paragliding for (£15) and the camel ride. We also took a taxi to Hammamet (£3) and twice to Nabeul (£2.50) but, arrange your taxi price before you get in.
The medina at hammamet is not for the faint harted so dont go unless you've got a thick skin.
We had a great time at le Zenith and met some lovely people, so I dont understand some of the very negative reviews. Remember we are in Africa so things will be a bit different.
Would I go back to Le Zenith .............. YES x

THE TRANSFER
We arrived in Tunisia at 11am ish and then had to queue for and hour to get into the country, once we finally got on the transfer coach it took a further 3 hours to reach the hotel. There were 8 people going to the hotel in total but we were made to sit through drop offs in Sousse and Port el Kantaoui which easily added on an extra and unnecessary hour.

THE ROOM
We booked a twin room but also had a third bed in there. There was actually plenty of room for us, a full length mirror and a dressing table with another large mirror. The bathroom was also big enough, with an amazing shower and plenty of hot water. The towels were changed regularly.
The beds themselves were really uncomfortable and we didn’t have proper pillows until our last night! But the sheets were changed and beds made every day. The cleaner is also lovely!
The walls are indeed a lime green colour which wasn’t pleasant with a headache....the hotel rooms in the Kinza Hotel are a lot nicer with white walls!
The balcony is tiny, you can just squeeze a small table with 2 chairs on there and even then it’s impossible to move around. We had a nice view of the beach and pool though and the balcony got lots of sun in the morning.

FOOD
Breakfast – this was amazing! There was always some form of eggs and usually tomatoes and spicy potatoes, fresh fruit, cereal, croissants and sweet bread and freshly made pancakes. And plenty to go round too!
Lunch – we only stayed at the hotel for lunch twice but there seemed to be a big selection including spicy pasta, chips, fresh veg, pizza and soup.
Dinner – every night we found something we liked, sometimes it wasn’t all that exciting but we never had to go out. You could guarantee that there would be veg and potatoes of some sort and a choice of a couple of meat dishes or fish. There was a grill section which had something different every night, a typical Tunisian dish, a Chinese speciality, a pizza section and sometimes a kebab.

BAR
The glasses are tiny so make sure you get 2 drinks at a time!!
I really liked the beer, it had a taste of Carlsberg about it. The “vodka” was actually boukha which is a fig schnapps type of thing – it’s VILE!! The bar men seem to like creating a strange stripy cocktail and another one containing whisky, brandy and red wine – both also horrible!
As the hotel is mainly for French guests, the English tend to get ignored at the bar so you can be waiting quite a while to get served.

ENTERTAINMENT
The animation team are lovely and take the time to speak to you at all times of the day, sometimes they can be a bit much though and don’t like to take no for an answer. Occasionally it felt like we were being stalked by a couple of them!
The shows in the theatre at night were...different. They were mainly in French with a little bit of English or some miming, we just didn’t get it. Also, there was no bar in the theatre and with the show being 10pm-11pm there was no opportunity to get another drink before the bar closed.

DISCOTHEQUE
Although it’s located within the hotel, it’s not just for the hotel guests. This means it’s busy, but it also makes for quite an intimidating atmosphere. We found that when men tried to dance with you they ignored you saying no and just grinded against you anyway. And if you moved away from them then someone else would dance with you, making the first person angry etc etc.
You have to pay for drinks in the discotheque which isn’t bad if you drink Heineken (4 dinar) but we made the mistake of ordering a vodka which was 9 dinar!
The toilets down there are pretty foul.

STAFF
The majority of staff were nice and helpful, especially the chefs and waiters but we found the bar men a little bit creepy (in both bars). They tended to stare a lot and follow us round and touch us and say they love us and want to come to England with us...one tried to kiss me too (with no encouragement!!)
The cleaner was brilliant, she came every day and was very thorough. She made us towel swans bless her!
The animation team were nice most of the time, but on occasion some of them were overly friendly! And didn’t seem to like it when we said we weren’t interested and then ignored us and were pretty rude after that...before coming back for another go.

All in all the hotel was nice, the beach was lovely and the weather was amazing. The thing which spoilt the holiday for me was the hassle we received from shop owners, people on the beach and some hotel staff. This made us feel very uncomfortable at times and even unsafe. We didn’t want a party holiday but we also didn’t want to go to bed at 9pm (which we did twice!). I would possibly go back to Hammamet but not the Zenith Hotel, I would want to stay somewhere that there was a lot more English guests with English entertainment, it was too intimidating being with 200 French people!

“VERY DISAPPOINTING”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

Where to start. After checking the reviews on this hotel I seriously didn't know what to expect as some were good, some were bad and some in the middle. I have never felt the need to put a review on any hotel I have ever stayed in but I need to put this one on just to get it out my system. In fact I haven't had a holiday this bad for 20 odd years. Only went for a week thank god. 80% french & 20% all other nationalities. Transfer from airport to hotel took three and a half hours, from hotel to airport two hours twenty minutes (yet were told it would take an hour and a half each way) and the only nice thing about the drive was seeing the ocean every so often. Hotel needs some refurbishment, all areas are shabby. Room was ok but we were given quite a large balcony but some were tiny, only big enough to fit say one chair on and one person. Beach was nice but as soon as you go out the hotel expect to get hassled by either children selling flowers and necklaces or men selling food, cigs and various stuff at the beach. If you dont get your towel on a sunbed by 8am you probably wont get one and even then someone might nab it. Yet people were putting towels on the sunbeds and going off for hours on end. So selfish. But if you cant get a sunbed round the pool you will get one at the beach or you will have to just put your towel on the grass. No safe in the room, you can pay for a safety deposit box near reception, think it was a couple of pounds a day. Towels not included, 50p per towel per day and the towels are just bath towels so make sure you take your own or just use the ones out the bathroom. Two pools, they were ok. There was a main restaurant for all meals and a snack bar at the smaller pool. Food all round was on the poor side and hotel staff not very friendly (only the entertainment guys had a smile on their faces). There is another little bar in the Kinza part of the hotel, near the smaller pool, so if you couldnt get a chair at the main bar you could one there and staff were nicer. All three in our group got bad stomache aches etc at some point, in fact my daughter was poorly on the first morning there and we had only had one meal! Entertainment was rubbish, wine was awful and staff were constantly running out of glasses so would serve drinks in white plastic cups (thimbles should I say!!!) like you would get from a coffee vending machine. All in all not worth the money and I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Fab Holiday - did not want to come home!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

My teenage Son and I stayed at Zenith Hotel - rooms basic but cleaned daily - food fabulous - recommend all inclusive as we did. Theatre productions on every evening at hotel - they were well done and great craic! Fab complex for families with small children as the kids were well looked after and entertained all day long by the animation team! All staff really friendly and fun! I recommend giving small tips now and then to bar staff etc as they go the extra mile to make your stay even more enjoyable. The beach 5 minutes walk away - my son had great time jet skiing & para gliding - priced very reasonably at approx £17 each (35 dinar) - deffo barter in shops - we bought an extra case to bring home all the bargains we bought. A large water park is beside beach again only 5 minutes walk from hotel.
Overall my 15yr old son was dissapointed to be coming home and really enjoyed it even though he was on holiday with his auld mum lol!!!! as was I!
