“Great value for money!”

My daughter and I are just back from a one-week stay in Anaïs (Zenith) and we had a wonderful time. Three beds in our spacious double room (one we used as sofa) with air conditioning (so one can close the windows to sleep through the train noise 1x per hour, starting at 6). We loved the "no view"-side of the hotel, because this was faced North and absolutely sunless, which is nice when temperatures are around 30 Celsius all day and you use your room mainly for sleeping. Clean swimmingpools, great food (besides the standard buffet, Tunesian specialties like Brik-à-l'oeuf are made individually), great service. It's a 3 minutes walk to the sea.
We went to Tunis (by taxi to Nabeul and from there by louage to the capital: total costs 11 dinars = 7 euros for 2 persons). We also took the bus to Nabeul: 0,45 dinar per person. We were there during Ramadan: public transport is less frequent than normally, and most cafés are closed at daytime.
And yes: one day the water was closed off for about an hour, for us this was just a sign that we're in Africa.
It's a nice place for people who want to relax in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

“A very bad experience”

Lean from the mistakes of others: do not stay in this hotel. First, it's 10 minutes' taxi ride from the centre of the town. OK, many hotels in Hammamet are outside the town centre, but there is nothing -NOTHING- to do in the immediate area of the Anais. We booked a double room but were given a triple, hotel staff couldn't say if we would get the room type we had paid for. Asking 3 times at reception in 3 different languages, no-one even looked on the computer booking system to check if/when a different room might become available. Room overlooked car park with train tracks beyond, not garden/pool as advertised, ideal for not sleeping really. The jewel in their crown: on arrival the bathroom had no running water so we couldn't have a wash or worse, as we discovered, flush the toilet! No flushing toilets? In a 3 star hotel?! That alone should ensure you never stay here.

I’ve never before written to any website with a review but Anais moved me. It's also called Le Zenith, though Le Nadir would seem to be more appropriate. Overall, don't even consider it, this hotel was so bad we moved without evening staying one night. Expensive perhaps, but why stay somewhere you dread to go back to? We went for a holiday, not a boot camp, so were very disappointed. Urgh.
