“Overpriced. Has a nice view..and that's it.”

The only thing the Riveredge has is a beautiful view of Boldt Castle. We stayed at this resort last March when my husband returned from Afghanistan. We had a "winter special" and spent over $150 for a room when the whole place was empty. We woke up to a leaking ceiling (apparently snow from the roof?). The bed was comfortable, but the rates were high considering it was off season and virtually no one was in the hotel. The bar was closed. The restaurant service was slow. The front desk staff were somewhat rude. There was free wifi.

“Horrible”

In September 2010, I was in a Wedding Party that stayed at the Riveredge Hotel. The stay was nice and had no major complaints. Three Months later I was billed again for the stay with no notice of why I was being charged. when I called to see if it was a mistake, they indicated that the travel agent we has dealt with went out of business and they had not received there money so they would be charging us all the full amount of the stay, and if they received any money from the bankruptcy then we would get something back, and then I was hung up on. In dealing with my credit card to contest the charge, they had waited to long for me to contest the charge from the travel agent and I had to pay twice for the hotel. while I am not blaming the Riveredge Hotel for the travel agent going out of business and understand that they need to make money, they should have let us know as soon as possible that they were having issues with the travel agent so we could have taken care of the issue promptly and not stuck over 60 guest with a double billing. I think it was completely rude to be hung up on when asking if I was double billed and I sincerely don’t appreciate never being contacted to see if they did get any money from the bankruptcy. The hotel was not a bad place to stay but after the nightmare paying over $900 for a standard hotel room for three nights when it should have been $450. I would have much preferred something more upscale.

We regreat that your stay here at the Riverdge ended in such an unforeseen circumstance. It was a matter that was truly upsetting on both sides. We handled it the best way we could which was to contact the Brides parents. I do know that the staff that handled the phone calls were very proffesional and courteous, I was shocked to read that you were hung up on. Our staff is not in the habit of just hanging up on customers. If you were treated in any way that was not proffesional than I truly aplogize.

“Home away from home”

We have been going to the Riveredge Resort since 1980. Our kids practically grew up there on summer vacations. We have taken many friends to this beauty of a resort over the years and they too are continuing customers. They have amazing deals throughout the year and always something there for everyone. Great ambiance no matter what time of year. Fun for the whole family. We have made many friends over a drink in the bar or at the pool and we all still stay in touch. Don't miss out, try this gem on the water, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: our favorite is the bayside rooms, or corner room with Jacuzzi

“Great Hotel , Restaurant staff needs alot of work”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

Let me first start out saying that I work in the customer service industry and have done so for nine years, so I know how a hotel and restaurant staff treat guests. I recently stayed here and we were there for a military couples retreat! We were told that the function would include breakfast, lunch and dinners.
The front desk welcomed us very warmly and did so for the remainder of our stay. Even the maintenance man putting up wall paper in the hall way was friendly. Our issue was with the restaurant this Wednesday night.
In going on this retreat we were told that all meals would be covered, something happened with the contract and dinner was no longer covered. The managers of our retreat worked something out so we received vouchers for $18.00 per person for dinner, keep in mind hotel restaurants are high priced. So on scheduled date night my husband and I go to the restaurant with our vouchers. The waitress says would you like anything other than water to drink. My husband said no water would be fine. The waitress scoffed at him. He then said we only received $18.00 per person for dinner so we are not very happy with the hotel and water will do just fine. The waitress then replied well we aren’t very happy with you guys either, I was supposed to work a banquet but instead I'm here! I was so angry I started to cry this was our date night! No matter what you never ever talk back to a guest like that. She was completely unprofessional and obviously is not suited to work in the customer service industry. A lot of my friends that were on the retreat had issues with the restaurant as well.
My advice is stay at the hotel they are friendly and have very nice rooms but I would stay away from the restaurant till they learn to keep their attitudes on the side.

Thank you for your review and your kind words in regards to the staff. We try are hardest to accomodate all of our guests so when the unfortunate circumstance of your dinner being canceled by the Fort Drum liasion, we jumped in to try and accomodate and help as much as we could. We were not going to be open for dinner that night because of another group that had taken the dining room for a Christmas Party and what we thought was going to be a Dinner for your retreat was cancelled. Therefore we opened up a side room and were able to serve dinners for your group. Our Bistro menu is very affordable with dinners ranging from $13.00 to $25.00. The Group leader had to honor the per diem rate of $18.00, there was plenty to choose from. There is no excuse for what the waitress did and it has been taken care of. So please try our Bistro for yourselves, sometimes there are two sides to every situation.

“hotel ok restaurant service bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

We recently stayed here during a company function. We of course researched the hotel online prior and their pictures make it look luxurious.... however, when we got to the rooms, that was another story. I totally understand that it is under renovations... so i won't nit pick on that.

What I WILL mention was the service in the hotel restaurant. UGH... I'm sorry but if you are having a bad day, or maybe you're just naturally mean, not sure... do not take it out on the customer... OR don't work in customer service. On MULTIPLE occassions during our stay we had a negative experience with the restaurant staff. Rude attitudes, rolling their eyes, totally uncalled for. Food was ok... overpriced but ok... However, we were made to feel as if we were a burden to them which is unfortunate because we will now be sure to share our story...

I highly suggest that the restuarant staff gets a discussion from the HOTEL manager that says something to the effect to not conduct chats and unprofessional conversations where customers can hear. AND oftentimes, it's not what you say... it's how you say it... for example... if you ask a couple "did the waitress leave your bill for your food?" that's perfectly fine. What's NOT fine is asking that question in a snobby rolling your eyes attitude.NOT COOL

Thank you for your review, It is important that we hear all comments whether they are positive or negative. Please be assured that we pride ourselves in Customer Satisfaction, when a customer feels that they have been treated in such a unproffesional way It saddens me to know this. Please be assured that I will look into every comment made by the reviewer and make sure that this does not happen. We look foward to all our Group Functions especially this time of the year when things slow down a bit. We wish to make every customers experience an enjoyable one. I am sorry that this reviewer did not have an enjoyable stay.
