I am somewhat bewildered by the previous reports. What do you expect from a provincial 4 star property?

Of course the prices reflect this and i thought it was good value at £25 for a deluxe room.

The rooms have everything you need, shower, bath, minibar tv, wifi. yes they are a bit dated, but mine was clean.

Will stay again.

This place is a bait and switch! Nasty! The lobby looks nice but then you get to the rooms "horror". Plus if you book on line it's $35 U.S dollars. They charged us $60 U.S as a walk in! We did not do our research because it was for one night! How bad could it be? Real bad! My friends and I will be sleeping standing up! "seriously"

We just checked in to this hotel and jumped on their wi-fi to leave a review of our first impressions. The front of the hotel, the hotel lobby, and the all the shops/spa etc are very nice. Clean, well air-conditioned, marble and glass. Impressive!

Then we were taken to our room. It's the nastiest rathole we've ever been in. The bathtub is dirty, the carpet is stained and also has a spot melted in the shape of an iron. I don't even want to lay down on the dingy freakin' bedspread.

DO NOT be fooled by the nice lobby. Insist that they show you your room BEFORE paying. Not just any room, insist to see YOUR room. (oh by the way, they have a no refunds policy...makes sense why now!)

Napalai Hotel is located close to the airport. There are a free shuttlebus to and from the hotel. A tuk tuk to the city center takes only a few minutes. Or around 15 minutes by using your feet.

The rooms are actually in need of an upmake. But still good enough. If you want to use your laptop, be sure to stay on a floor with wireless. (Not all the floors have connection) The topfloors have excellent views around.

I love the big pool! It's really big, blue and refreshing. You can do laps there as well as letting your kids play around in the shallow part. Probably the best pool in Udon Thani.

The breakfastbuffet is served until 10 am and of good standard. I haven't tried the restaurang at night yet though. Friendly and profesionell staff at the reception. There are safetyboxes for free use. Late checkout is no problem :-)

Just across the street there's a nightspot called The Western Pub. A good place to drink and listen to a live band playing good old songs that surely have touched your ears before. The local patrons usually arrives quite late. Well worth a visit. And it's so easy to make it back home...

There are cheaper and also more expensive hotels in town. But I reckon that Napalai Hotel gives very good value for your money. And it has a handy location.
