Welcome to the year 1988!

Good things:
+ Postcard views
+ Peaceful
+ Pool area

Bad things:
- Everything is very very very very old, it's like a time travel!
- Everything is very very very expensive. And they put huge service charge automatically to every order. Nice. How about some servicing with that kind of prices!?
- Tennis court can't be used, it needs total renovation
- Fitness room can't be used, it needs total renovation too
- Wifi is only in the lobby area
- Only one of the staff spoke good english. But not very good completely or she tried to fool us. We asked how much is the laundry service per kilo. She said "it's included". So we washed some clothes and received 1650 bahts bill. It was about FIVE times more expensive than normal laundry service in Thailand hotels. Of course we asked why we got bill if the laundry service was included to massive room price. She DENIED that she said "it's included". So we had little quarrel in the lobby and finally got it free. But they wasted one shirt anyway with some blue washing liquid.
- You need expensive taxi service to get anywhere, remember to buy drinks and snacks from shop from Ban Phe.
- No pool bar service. There was no-one.
- There is one free shuttle bus (or taxi) every day. Well in first day it was 30 mins late so we missed some boats to Koh Samet. And the driver tried to get money altough it was free.
- Renovation noise continued every day from the morning to the night
- We had to change room due the renovation
- Bad bad bad service, in breakfast they just stand there and only care about that they have their breakfast coupons. They should do some servicing!
- It's too quiet place, not much to do or nothing actually, and of course seemed that some other guests were angry to hotel and service too. Poor thing for staff, but can't pity them because in other places in Thailand staff SMILES and even TRIES TO SERVICE. But not here.
- Movie every night with free popcorn. Well, had to ask TWICE for that popcorn before some staff started to cook it
- Beach is full of rubbish. Go to Koh Samet for some real beaches.

Tips:
--> Take a hotel from Koh Samet
--> If you are for some reason in this hotel and get pissed off to prices, there is small camping area near the hotel's backroung with a tiny restaurant. Very nice service and good food about six times cheaper than in the hotel. You can go there through beach and little path (about 300 metres) near the forest. It was open till 7 pm.

“You can do better for your money,”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

I will try to make this easy and to the point.
It wasn't a horrible experience, The hotel is dated and old looking in the rooms. I have never seen a plastic bathtub in my life. It felt like a mobile home in your room. The t.v is dated, and it got 2 crappy channels. It was not dirty. It was only adequate.
The entry to your room is with a key, they have no safe in your room. The mini bar, was crazy expensive. Like a very very small pepsi....was like 65 baht,,,when on the label it was 10 baht.

For 3 french fries and 3 cokes around the pool it cost us 750.00 Baht.
The hotel was like hawaii prices and no need for it other than there is no where closer to eat..

The hotel also will only call a taxi that will charge you 250 baht oneway to take a 5 Km ride to town. Having done that we seen metered taxi's all through town so the hotel must get rich off kick backs fromn these other taxi drivers. SHAME ON YOU RAYONG RESORT

The service around the pool was ridiculously slow, there was hardly anyone even around the pool and they even forgot our drinks twice!!!! Three lemonades are not hard or difficult,, but they were expensive, 300 baht with the service charge.

If you have children there is absolutley nothing for them to do here. For that fact there is nothing for adults to do either. Perhaps this resort could take some of the people that are just standing around wasting time and get them to get kids invovled in a game around the pool or the lawn.??? It begs the question" ARE THEY INTERESTED IN REMAINING OPEN ONE MORE YEAR???? I
The very fact that they were at less than half capacity for new year holiday should tell evryone there is a problem.
THE BEACH: If you enjoy swimming in a rocky, and polluted beach ( garbage from fishing boats) then this is the beach for you. Just 3 km away is the most beautiful swimmable beach....Although you will pay for it in their taxi ride there.

Room Tip: 618 room, you can hear everything, walls must be paper thin. You can hear some one cough in the next...

Thank you for your comments, we are so sorry to hear that you were not very happy with part of our services. Rayong Resort Beach & Spa is a Premier Thai Resort property owned professiomnally operated by experienced Thai professionals in the hospitality industry at the highest international standards. Therefore cost of food & beverage charge at different level when comparing to a grocery store forgive me that i have to mention about this.

If very things were that bad i beleived we will not be able to be in the hospitality for 25 years.

A set of frence fries servd and eat at the luxury pool for 250 Baht ,well is very reasonal price.

All prices for food and beverage shown on menu, so it's quite fair wasn't it ? it's customer choice to have it or not . we never forced to sale.

We are very welcome to all customer who enjoy and appreciated beauty of the nature. I haste to say that you may have to find the hotel that suitable or matched to your style and budget.

“Was probably a nice place in its day, but not now”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

Do not stay here...'nuff said. But, to elaborate more: The waterfront rooms are NOT on the beach, they are on a rocky and dirty (i.e. littered) side. The kids playground (a bit attraction for us with our then 2-year old) is so broken down that I forced them to rope it off and make it appear to our daughter to be closed. During what should have been a moderately high season there were so few people there that it was obvious they had no money to pay staff...and the lack of maintenance inside rooms and around the property was obvious.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building are best, since closest to beach (but still not that close).

“Overpriced, over-aged tatty property”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

13 years ago some friends of mine visited this resort, and said it was very old and desperately in need of refurbishment. Well, 13 more years have passed and no improvements have been made. The rooms are musty smelling, tatty and equipped with fittings from 20+ years ago. The balcony was dirty with pigeon droppings and had not been cleaned.
There was a power failure in the building for an hour or so in the morning around breakfast time.
The food and drinks are the same price as the 5-star JW Marriott in Phuket, but this is definitely a 3-star resort.
On the plus side, the view and setting is really very pleasant, the pool is clean and inviting, and breakfast buffet was pretty good for a 3-star place
If you are a newcomer to Thailand, avoid this place. It is totally isolated to its own property, and there are thousands of much better places for the same price in many areas.

Room Tip: In another resort

“Avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

As residents of Bangkok, we booked 5 nights at the Rayong Resort to get some flood relief. We had two rooms in the main building. This hotel was probably considered luxurious in its hayday but those days are LONG gone. It is beyond old and tired, it's a wreck. All you are paying for here is the view (which is stunning) and the pool, nothing else. The information book in the room was cracked and torn and covered in mold, there is only ONE power point in the room and no internet in any form apart from a weak signal in the lobby where there were no comfortable chairs. (As all schools were closed in Bangkok due to the flooding my children needed the internet to do their schoolwork but didn't manage to connect.) The carpets were dirty and the room smelled. Renovations were taking place from 8am-5pm but I'm not sure what they were renovating. The breakfast was basic and in a completely unadorned room. Dinner was well below average and didn't change. It was the same "international buffet" both nights we were there before heading back to Bangkok 3 days early.

It is also an impossible hotel for anyone with mobility issues. Endless stairs to and from everywhere and it's perched up on a hillside. No beach restaurants and not much beach to speak of. When the tide was out there was maybe 4ft of sandy beach but dirty.
