Service at Big A was very good, Thomas the manager attentive and available. Big A is a quiet, simple affair in the 1-2 star range with pleasant, clean off-lawn style rooms, with a nice pool and a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere. My wife is accustomed to 5-star affairs so for us this was very much the low-end of our normal profile, yet we had a really nice time. The manager also let us bring our 6 month golden retriever puppy along, who had a lovely time running in the central yard, and the location is excellent for Rawai, Phuket Town, a Tesco within 2 minutes, and Kata Beach 10 minutes to the West. Downsides were few: air conditioner a big loud, bathrooms simple and small with rudimentary shower, parking lot rutted but serviceable. Check in was seamless and the staff offered us a transfer from Phuket Airport, which we declined having let a new Honda Jazz from David Car Rent for 900baht/day. Horst, the owner, is a great guy, colorful, rough about the edges, but kind at heart, and also has a GREAT yacht that he charters out for a very good price. Overall our stay was most pleasant and the big story here is Value Value Value + super nice staff, good AFFORDABLE simple yummy Thai food and a very reasonably priced breakfast, and a great tropical resort feeling for very reasonable price.
