“this place DOES NOT REPLY TO EMAILS - BELIEVE the negative reviews :-(”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2012 NEW

This is a last resort that I place such negative review/feedback on a place I am yet to visit.

My partner and I purchased a Deal Me voucher for accommodation here at Mangosteen Resort. Close to 2 weeks ago I emailed the resort asking for assistance with booking our stay with them. Within minutes I received a reply advising to follow the link to the automated booking/reservation system. WOW, what great service i thought, UNFORTUNATLY, this is where the good service ENDS.

I followed that link in the email and made a booking/reservation request two weeks ago (18/5/12). Straight away I received an autoreply advising that my booking/reservation request had been received and would be processed within 3 business days.

It has now been 8 business days and I HAVE NOT HEARD A THING. I have emailed twice more requesting a reply, even going as far to say that i had read the unfortunate feedback here at TripAdvisor and that if I did not receive a reply from them within the day, i would placing my own negative feedback at trip advisor. So Here I am.

I do feel sorry for all the other voucher purchasers out there, it seems just because you have purcahsed a voucher, you automatically qualify for the WORST SERVICE EVER AND A LACK OF COMMUNICATION. Fake advertising when you say its a 5 star resort, a 5 star resort has BETTER COMMUNICATION.

MANGOSTEEN MANAGEMENT, Please reply to my booking request, please honour what i have already paid for. My partner and I meet all the requirements of being a couple, over 30, and travelling alone. I do not understand what could be the cause of this TERRIBLE SERVICE that I am receiving.

Some communication would be appreciated.

Happy to change this feedback WHEN YOU REPLY MANGOSTEEN

“Wonderful relaxing stay”

I had absolutely no trouble booking the dates I wanted although I had a Groupon Deal.
We were collected at the airport and taken to the resort, where we decided to upgrade to a seaview room with jacuzzi. The room was huge, with all the usual amenities, mini bar, TV, DVD Player, CD Player. It was kept spotless by the staff. One small complaint, the a/c was not quite cold enough, but it didn't really spoil our stay
All the villas set in the well tended tropical gardens are very private, so you are not aware of other guests staying there. We had 3 meals in the restaurant and it was extremely good quality with fantastic service. The swimming pool area is very well maintained and has plenty of sunbeds. All the staff were very polite and helpful.
We explained to Richard, who was giving the timeshare presentation, that it was not for us at this time in our lives, and were given no pressure at all.
Most days we took advantage of the free hourly shuttle to Nai Harn Beach, 10 minutes from the hotel. This small cove is very well serviced with outdoor bar/restaurants,a min mart, massage, souvenirs etc.
You can also hire a sun lounger/beach umbrella for about 100 baht for the day. Iced drinks are availble from the man who hire the sunloungers, so you don't have to move very far to get an ice cold beer 60baht.Most days we had lunch at one of beach restaurants, which all have wonderful seafood.
There were lots of things to do in the area, but we chose to just chill out and had a really relaxing holiday.Even the weather was perfect, although it can be a bit unpredictable at this time of year.
I would certalinly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday in luxurious surroundings.
Thank you to all the staff that made our stay so great

Room Tip: rooms 205 and 206 have nice sea views

“Don't even try to book here if you are friends or family travelling together.”

This resort has no interest in the custom of people who travel as friends or family. Like others I know, I bought accommodation vouchers here but was told that as my sister and I were not a 'romantic couple' our voucher was not going to be honoured for our request to stay in October. This despite the fact that they welcome children so are what I would deem a family location.Their emails were written with no salutation, no sign off - just blunt and not at all pleasant.
I suppose we could have lied - it seems unfeasible that they check what is going on in your suite - but you are asked to state the nature of your relationship and it doesn't occur to you that they will refuse the business of honest older people coming to a place described as "Ideal for travellers looking for peace and tranquillity'. Our Deal in Australia refused to refund our money despite the fact that Fair Trading supported my claim that voucher conditions that were not clear, so we now are $400 out of pocket.
I can't tell you anything about the place itself, but it hardly looks to be a small secluded romantic place whose atmosphere we would have spoilt by our presence. Not a pleasant experience.

Dear Jann,

may we ask why you bought a voucher from a promotion you are not qualifying for? Whose fault is this? The conditions have been clearly (couples only) indicated on Our Deals. Of course we don't know about their refund policy but from the resort side, facts are simple and clear. You should not have bought the voucher.

We have many couples, families with children, honeymooners and all kind of guests staying with us, just read the other reviews. The reservation system has recently been improved and is now efficient, quick and there are names attached to each email.

“Not nice at all, unfriendly, rude, don't answer email.”

We bought vouchers from Groupon Sweden, one for me & one for my boyfriend since 5 years. First when we tried to book a room for 2 weeks, they said that it is only 1 voucher / stay / week. Though it sais that it is 1 voucher / person. Well then we tried to book a room for 1 week in february 2013. they say it's fully booked. We could come in april maybe ? We are celebrating a special birthday in the beginning of March so no, we couldn't change the dates. we tried 4 different weeks in feb + march 2013. Then the don't even bother to answer your emails. Really rude.
Talked to Groupon Sweden, almost everybody who bought deals, couldn't book a room. They are very unfriendly at The Mangosteen, at least the ones that are taking care of the bookings. Groupon Sweden will never do business ever agan with this resort they told me. When we look at the internet on diffenrent bookingsites, hotels.com, agoda.se, tripadvisor, an so on. they all have rooms available att the Mangosteen...... so The Mangosteen is lying to you..... Not good for their reputation.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here... then they can be by themselves on this resort.
So we have not been at this resort, we tried to but where not welcome. And now we don't want to go there ever.

I'm sorry about your difficulties to book a room with us. It is correct, only one voucher can be used per couple, so one week should be possible to book, if all other conditions in the promotion apply. We have booked in a large number of guests from the promotion in Sweden. February is high season however and it might not be easy to get a standard room. Our reservation normally answers quickly, sorry if this happened in your case. I will contact you and see what we can do. Hoping to see you soon in Phuket!

“An extremely relaxing holiday”

When we first arrived we had a slight problem with our room, that being the airconditioning wasn't working but things were rectified very quickly. It was the perfect place to stay and have the opportunity to relax. The pool was amazing, along with the overall setting of the resort and Benz provided fantastic service at the pool bar. He was extremely courteous and catered to our every need. All the staff were extremely friendly but in my opinion Benz was a stand out. He made our holiday a time to remember. Special thanks also go to John for his service and tips on Phuket, especially being able to drop us into Patong in the late afternoon. There was no pressure to to take up the offer which I respected him very much for. We'll definately be coming back again and mentioning the resort to our friends. I would also suggest taking up the offer for massages. Wow 100 minutes a day! What more can you ask for.
