“Value for money, good location.”

We enjoyed an 8 night stay with our young family (8/5 yo) in Dec 11. 2 interconnecting rooms on the 3rd floor, that were a good size and very clean, overlooking the pool. Room facilities were satisfactory, but no DVD player, but we bought our own portable machine that plugged in without any problems. Beds (both King and single) were huge and very comfortable. Water pressure in the shower is not the best, but better than some places I have stayed at in Asia.

The main attraction for us at this property was the pool. It is a fantastic size, with a toddlers pool, and a swim up Bar that has "Happy Hour" for two hours around 5pm. Poolside service is very good. No matter what time of the day you are swimming, there is always lots of shaded areas to escape the Sun. There is another pool on the top floor (Moon pool and Bar) which is more suited to people without children, but still a nice view.

Buffet breakfast was very good, with a large range of western and asian dishes, to satisfy both parents and fussy children. Nightly "themed" buffet dinner looked good, but can be a bit expensive.

The Mecure is one block back from Patong beach, about a 5 min walk, so you miss all the noise associated with traffic and night life closer to the beach. Markets are a short stroll away, Hard Rock cafe is across the road. There is a small 7/11 type store right next door that has most "provisions" that that you might need. In front of the store is a good tour operator (We did James Bond Island and the Elephant trek/Snake show). They also double as a laundry agent, we got about 30 items washed and ironed for about $15 AUD.

The only complaint I could make, is the hall ways leading to the rooms echo very loudly, which is a problem when other guests wander back to their rooms in the early hours after a night at the Bangor Rd bars.

Considering the deal we had, (stay 8 pay for 4 incl b/f) and the location/facilities, the Mecure was great value for money, and we look forward to staying there again soon.

“Excellent place to stay... But, but, but..!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

This is an excellent place to stay... Location and the property is very good... The rooms are big clean and modern... You are far enough away from all the late night noise but still within short walking distance to all that you want to do... The swimming pool is beautiful and they even have a "Kids Club"... This is an unattended room with many toys and activities for smaller kids..!
This is where the good stops..! For a hotel in this location that services so many foreign visitors one would think they would have service operating at a higher level... We (7 people staying in 3 rooms) got in late at night and with no other customers to be seen the check-in process took 25-30 minutes... The next day the housekeeping staff took one of our own blankets out of the room when changing the bed linens... I reported this to the front desk and it was never found... Although, they will take a fairly high deposit from you when you check-in in the case you cause damage to the room... In the rooms they even have a list with prices for all the tings in the room if you cause damage or take something (this includes towels, bathrobes, you name it and even blankets)... All I got for our lost blanket was a sorry and not even some way to compensate for it such as a complimentary breakfast... If it were their blanket it would have cost me 2000 Baht..!
We also arranged a hotel to airport transfer through the hotel for 1400 Baht... They asked the flight number and time of departure... They said 2 hours before was enough time... This could not have been more wrong... The hotel arranged driver never showed... They tried to say sorry but this was not their fault... This could not be further from the truth as the hotel charged me and not the driver and therefore they are responsible... I informed them differently and assured them they would not want to purchase 7 new flight tickets if we missed our flight... At this point with 1 hour 35 minutes before our flight and after suggesting many times, they agreed to have the hotel shuttle van take the 7 of us to the airport... So with 1 hour and 30 minutes to take off time we left the hotel... Traffic is horrible in Patong as the hotel staff must know due to the one-way traffic loop through Patong... If it were not for the hotel driver who obviously knows all the back roads of Phuket and our flight being 20 minutes late... We would have missed it..!
If not for these low points and lack of a higher level of service, I would rate this a very good-excellent place to stay... It goes without saying that as an A-Club member with over 40+ nights in the past 2 years, I will be in contact with the hotel directly and Accor's Corporate Office to follow up on these issues..!

Room Tip: Depending on time of day... Give yourself 2.5-3 hours to get to the airport..!

“A good distance from the hustle & bustle of Patong”

I stayed here for a week in late Jan, early Feb. I shared a twin room and was pleased with the service. However a couple of times they forgot to refill the toilet paper & after a quick phone call they were prompt with delivery!

Breakfast is good and more than adequate for a buffet breakfast. Best part was that it was fresh!

Free wifi service in the hotel lobby was a bit of a joke. It was time consuming to log on! Check out was a breeze. However waited for ages to check in as a few had arrived before us.

Overall I liked the location away from Bangla Road.

The staff overall were pleasant and friendly. I would recommend it for people wanting a relaxing holiday. The hotel pool was fab!
