“a good 3.5 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

two couples staying at this hotel from 29th dec to 2nd jan 2012 , we booked this hotel back in june for three nights in deluxe rooms , on arrival at the hotel the welcome was ok but i could not say the staff were falling over themselves in assisting our luggage from the transfer from phuket airport, but we were greeted with a welcome drink and a smile from the check in staff , on given our rooms which were bright clean and beds were comfortable , bathrooms were good with the usual complimentary toiletries , breakfast was pretty good with an excellent selection and coffee was ok , the location of the hotel is fantastic , with three main entrances , one to bangla road , two an entrance that leads to the beach approx 2 minute walk and the third entance that leads to the shops close to the jungceylon shopping mall ,
because we stayed for the new years eve , we had to pay extra for new years eve gala night , the hotel did make an excellent effort in laying out the dinner tables around the main pool with fairy lights all around the function and tables laid out with hats streamers etc , the food laid on for new years eve party was good and plentiful. but bottles of hotel wine were very very expensive , entertainment was similar you would find at an all inclusive package holiday by the animators , it was ok but for us a little cheesey. so we had the meal till about 9.30pm then left for the party on patong beach which i may add was the most fantastic new yers eve event we had ever experienced , on the whole though the hotel was good and makes a good base hotel in patong to explore phuket . both couples are in there forties .

Room Tip: rooms on the ground floor next to the second pool

“Good 3,5 stars”

What makes Patong Resort a good hotel is its location. 3 minutes to the beach, 4 minutes to Bang-La Road with its sparkling nightlife, 5 minutes to different shopping malls. This hotel is right in the center of everything which makes you close your eyes to some minor downsides.

The hotel itself is pretty old, at least the 4th wing. Rooms are clean but wallpapers and old-style furnishing had better times. The most annoying was that the toilet didn't flash but it seemed to be an overall problem on Phuket. If you think it's funny try to imagine extra 5 minutes spent in a bathroom trying to complete your business! Besides that everything was fine.

The hotel consists of four wings. Three of them are bungalows with a lovely garden and a pool. The 4th wing is the main building with reception, restaurants and its own pool. We asked for a sea-view room on a higher floor and we weren't disappointed. The room was nice and very quiet. The only problem is that they have only twin rooms facing the sea. If you want DBL they can only offer street view.

Overall service was good: pretty diverse breakfast, friendly staff, timely troubleshooting. I would recommend this hotel for those who want to be right in a bustle of Phuket.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea-view room if you don't mind twin room. We stayed at room 612 that was very quiet.

“Great Get-Away”

Not a five star Hotel by any means, as there are plenty of those springing up like mushrooms in and around Patong, this hotel offers great value along with Colonial charm of a by-gone era. The lobby and Emerald Dining room are vast and airy; staff greet you with warm smiles and a friendly “SaWaDiKa”. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet offers a good selection of Western and Asian food, enough to fill any empty stomach after a night out or before a day of touring or just lounging by one of two of the 50 meter pools. Located a scant 100 meters from the beach in one direction and 200 meter from a major shopping centre, Jung Ceylon, a myriad of choices awaits you. The location cannot be better for eating from street vendors or restaurants, shopping, relaxing or partying all night. This hotel is a great value for families or singles. Check it out!

Room Tip: This hotel is located very close to the beach and main beach access road which tends to be noisy to...

Hotel in great location close to the beach and bangla road. Breakfast is good, staff are friendly. The new part of the hotel is much nicer than the older wings. Would stay again however made sure I had the new wing. Pools ok, didn't really use them as we were so close to the beach
