This was my first stay at the Patong Lodge, having stayed at 4 other hotels in patong before, this one is quite alright. The staff are not the friendliest or veyr helpful, but if you go the the guest house down the laneway towards the road, order drink , take a seat and they will help you as much as they possibly can with your questions. The room i initially had was slightly noisy as it was at the front of the hotel, good size but looking straight out at the rooms and power lines opposite. I then moved across the hall to a smaller roomwith a balcony which looked over the pool area and behind that swamp. The air con was not the best but the maintenance man did his best and it was not too bad. Breakfast is good and plentiful. Safety deposit box in a private room behind reception as strange, but nice and private to handle documents and cash without staff staring and watching you. Location is perfect, close to everything in patong and the local town bus (old style school bus) goes right past on rat u thit road. $25 baht will get u into phuket town and the big centres. great value.
bottom line this hotel is good vallue i believe, u get an air con room, drinking water provided, nice clean pool, great location, clean rooms and good food.

if u want luxury you pay $$ and upgrade to the merlin or so and add another couple of hundred. Im back at this hotel in July..no hesitation.

I stayed at the patong beach lodge for roughly 3 weeks. I had stayed in the hotel previously and was quite content that I booked again. It was a horrible experience. First of all my air conditioner was broken, and despite my complaints and reassurances they had fixed it the airconditioner still remained broken. Then they sent me to another room, with no windows for a night. And changed my room again, and again problems with the aircon. So for 3 weeks i battled inconsistent airconditioning and discomfort. Quality airconditioning is a must for hotels in thailand .Overall the staff were useless and rude except the cleaning ladies who are the most competent workers in the establishment.

I can only think that someone in our group booked into this place because the price was reasonable which should never be the main criteria for accomodation. My room had no window!, even prisoners in normal custody in gaol in Australia have a window and who the hell would want to stay in an alleyway?
If you don't mind the hussle and bussle and constant comings and goings of staying within a shopping precinct then you may like it here. If like me you go on a holiday for relaxation with sea views there are far nicer places to stay.

I have stayed in many hotels throughout asia but this hotel must be one of the WORST i have ever stayed in the staff are like trained monkeys, when asked anything they reply with a standard answer "contact you travel agent", the only thing the staff understand's is money to take a friend to your room costs you financially just as if you loose your room key or happen to leave your room towel at the pool by mistake then you can be sure the next morning you will find an account under your door, the cleaning staff come everyday and if they remember they will leave fresh towels soap and toilet paper but it's not often they remember so it's up to you to organise these thing's, the room's in the hotel have no windows so no natural light can enter the room at all, in an emergency there is only one way out of the room so while there pray there is no need to evacuate your room in a hurry. SHAME really as the hotel is in a good location. BEWARE BEWARNED
