Stayed here for 2 nights in March 2009. For 200B I got a single (not a bunk bed) bed in the 5 bed dorm. The bed was comfy and the room a decent size with several fans. The dorms are on the top floor but can still be noisy from the main street below. The bathroom was clean and had hot water. The dorms and bathroom lead onto a kitchen type area with a table, sink and cooker so you cook your own food. Unfortunately, the dorm door didn’t lock and kept opening with the wind so it wasn’t secure, although nothing got stolen. The internet is very slow but free. When I was there the management seemed fine and friendly. I’m not sure what the single/double rooms are like so can’t comment but, in respect of the dorms, I wouldn’t stay there again to be honest.

An amazing place to stay as it offers the chance to get an idea about the new generation of young Chinese folks who love to travel.

Rooms offer fridge, private bathroom, AC, balcony and a fine selection of TV channels including Japanese, German, Uk and American stations.

Also the location is excellent with the great JungCeylon Shopping center, Patong beach and loads of lovely restaurants in shortest walking distance.

The house management is very friendly and helpful offering also great tours and day trips to Phi Phi and other islands at very competitive rates.

In fact the Thai Oriental Inn is a nice and affordable place to stay in Patong.

The only reason we chose to stay in this guesthouse was because everywhere in Phuket was full due to it being the Chinese new year, something I was unaware of I'm sad to say.
They'd double booked our room with no real explanation as to why this had happened, so we had to stay at a guesthouse just around the corner for a night, which to be fair, was heaps better than The Thai Oriental Inn, I only wish we had stayed there now.

This place is dirty, badly run, and in urgent need of a refurb.
We only stayed for one night, the final nail in the coffin for me was discovering on our return to the room one night that somebody had been in and rummaged through our belongings.
Thankfully my suitcase was padlocked and anything of any value was inside it. When I confronted the manager about this he didn't really have a lot to say about it.

Untrustworthy and definately one to avoid!

When we tried to check in, the British woman at the desk claimed she had no reservation for us (but I saw our name on her reservation list) and that other agencies sold her rooms for her and she doesn't want them to. She complained that she was overbooked because some of her lodgers were staying longer than their reserved time. She told us to leave our bags and come back about 8 PM. We came back at 8:30 pm and she was still getting our room ready. The building is nothing like advertised in the picture. The picture of the lovely front facade is not the establishment. It is a dental clinic. She has the back of the building. The place is dark and dingy, our room looked out on a brick wall. My husband got shocked when he touched the bathroom light switch. The air conditioner didn't do a good job. The next day we went out sightseeing and when we returned to our room, she was in our room packing our things because another of her customers wanted our room for the cable access. We didn't like her going through our things or moving us out. She sent us to another hotel 1/2 block away. In the end, the hotel she sent us to was much better than her establishment.
