“Average but a plus for its quiet location and spacious room.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

My partner and I stayed here for 6 days. Location wise, it is more for travelers whom prefer a quieter side of Patong. Not exactly 2-5 mins walk from the main area. 10 mins I would say. (Imagine having to walk all the way back from the main area after a whole day of activities. We took quite a few trips of tutuk back during our stay.)

Check-in process was okay. No elevators. Staffs' service are so-so. Their English was quite poor that we had a hard time communicating with them.

Room:
- Spacious.
- No water boiler or iron. Got to call the reception to send it to you (waiting time is quite long).
- Poor soundproof walls. Next-door-neighbour had an argument with some Thai chicks during the wee hours and we can hear every word. No staffs came to stop the argument but only did so after we complained.
- Bathroom wise, it is okay. But the water quality is poor. It is not even clear. Kind of 'yellowish?'. I had itchy bumps growing on my arms after that.

Breakfast:
- Terrible. Limited choices, cold dishes (other than the freshly cooked omelette).

Well... I would not recommend this hotel to other travelers.

“Close to the end of the beach, close enough to everything so you can walk”

We actually stayed here quite a while ago, so maybe there have been some upgrades.
:-) The facility is located at the south end of Patong Beach.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room we had came with a balcony overlooking the pool which was very clean. Beautiful sunset visible over the water on the Andaman Sea view side. Many international singles seemed to stay here at the time, so if traveling solo, you can always hook up with new friends. The room itself had very typical simple furnishings, i.e. king size bed, dresser, closet, and the air in the room was kind of damp and a little musty due to the location, but it was bearable and you can open the door to the balcony if you want. The bedding was clean and housekeeping did a good job when they came in to clean the room. The a/c worked very well. The bathroom was adequate, but it appeared that the water was actually salt water that was being used. (i.e. taste and feeling) Bottled water is available and there is a Seven Eleven right next door that is open 24 hours. We always carry our valuables with us when we travel, which isn't much, so there was nothing missing from what we left behind when exploring.

There is internet access down by the reception desk but I forget the price. Its affordable though, nothing crazy. There is a small restaurant down in the pool area so you can eat and drink on the premises. I bought this as a travel package so we had breakfast / meal coupons we used. You are also close enough to a lot of others places to eat, you just have to walk a bit, five or ten minutes. I liked being so close to the beach which was right across the street from the motel. (I consider this place more of a motel than a resort, fyi). There are also tours you can take that you can arrange at the motel or at kiosks nearby. We went to James Bond Island and the "Fantasea" Show which we both enjoyed.

I would stay here again if I had the chance, its not bad and its comfortable, but my wife prefers Baan Sukhothai on Bangla Road because she wasn't too happy with the salty shower water and she is not really a beach person. Something to think about if you want to stay here and have sensitive skin. Like I said, this was a while back and they may have made improvements by now.

“One of my worst experiences”

we had confirmed bookings for 2 rooms with Baan Bao through Asia Rooms for 3 nights. We reached the reception with our booking printout and the reception people said they had no booking. We called Asia Rooms and they said they had forwarded the booking to the hotel and also gave a conformation number and fax details to us and the reception manager. However the Hotel did not even help us and we were stranded in a foreign land.
The Gm of the Hotel refused to meet us and acknowledge our booking printout.
We sent several complains to the GM but this was of no use.
Such hotels should be black listed as they ruin the name of such a beautiful country.
Also our whole day was wasted finding an other Hotel. Thanks to the Greed of the hotel (Over Booked at higher rates) we lost not only time but lots of money in another hotel.

“good location”

First impression was not exciting but each next day I liked hotel more and more :))
Good point is its location (not too noisy, beach is not overcrowded, good restaurants nearby, not too far away to the main life streets). in my opinion hotel is for the people that like to stay on the beach during the day and to have some fun at night in the center of patong.
Staff is ok but some of them are quite rude :))))
Massage saloon is ok, but as i was informed by other tourists there are better saloons a bit further that have lower prices and better service (i liked massages but i was not impressed about the quality :)))) but its just 10$ so u cant expect a paradise).
Beach is in front of the hotel (sunloungers price is 80baht (2.5-3$) per day. Beach staff is really ok, helpfull. Beach is quite clean.
Tuk-tuk prices are starting at 150 baht (5-6$). This is the approx price for the tuk-tuk "trip" from Jung Ceylon to the hotel.
Nearby 7-11 and family mart so its not a problem to buy cheap ice-cream or a bottle of natural juice and to look at the stars on the beach at night.
Prices at the nearby restaurants not differ too much. I was ordering thai food cause i do eat european meal every day at home :) The average prices are 5-15$ per person for the dish and refreshing drink ("european meal" - 10-30$ and its not so good as in europe :)) ).
Mainly staying tourists from scandinavian countries, russia and germany.
In general i think its quite good hotel, i think i would stay here again.

“Great service, Clean rooms, Priced right”

For a beach front hotel the price is right. Off season is when I travel so I get the better price. The people working are prompt and professional. The massage by the pool is super. The Breakfast off season is not a buffet like they have during the busy season but it does the job. The beach is just across the street. The only bummer is that it DOES NOT have FREE wifi. Any place that wants to stay up with the times will install FREE wifi.
