Travellers have different preferences when it come to choosing a vacation. My wife and myself are definitely the laid back kind who loves to stay in a comfortable place that offers a mix of activities. And I would like to qualify that my review is based purely from this perspective.
Holiday Inn Resort Phuket is well place at a convenient location where one can choose to explore the hectic activities along the endless crowded shopping streets, literally outside its doors or just laze on the inviting white beach sands across the road.
Upon check-in, our first impression from the Reception was warm and welcoming. During our stay, we observed that their Service with a Smile attitude was kind of unreal. The HI Management should give themselves a pat on their backs for having a team of employees who understand Service and perhaps, able to convince many a guests to stay another day.
Not to be outdone by the choice of activities out on the main road, the hotel complex entices laid back guests like me to forego the outdoor adventures with a variety of swimming pools that comes with a swim up bar. The lounge areas do not have any live performances, only piped in music. Somehow, this arrangement by the hotel creates a conducive environment for relaxation without any loud speakers blasting anytime of the day. If I need my fix of loud music, the Hard Rock Cafe is only a 10 minutes walk away.
Room conditions lived up to our expectations, however, I did find the empty mini bar concept refreshing because, for obvious reasons, most travellers never consume anything that the hotel stuff into this tiny refridgerator.
The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is because.... besides us, there were ten thousand other hotel guests who were there for the same reasons.
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and we will be back again. Hopefully the next time, we will step out of the hotel gates to check out what the rest of Phuket has to offer.
