Just back from a couple of weeks in Phuket and stayed here. First time on Phuket although we have been to Thailand before and travelled a lot. Yes it’s an older hotel but was fine and at a good price. If you want top quality don’t stay here but by and large this was fine. Clean room, good breakfast and service with a smile. Its a great location, not far from Bangla Rd, nightlife and all shopping. There is construction going on out the front. The workers work from about 8am-8pm every day with a bit of noise but its not too bad, it didnt bother us. Signage had this work finishing in June 2012. We stayed in the main wing on L6 which was good and had adjoining rooms with our teenagers. I was surprised how quiet it was it must have thick walls as we heard nothing from neighbouring rooms. We also had a pretty good view out to the sea. My only complaint is not related to the Hotel at all. Its the dam fireworks the locals sell on the street. They are the massive. Tourists buy them and set them off on the beach, particularly the drunks coming home from Bangla Rd at all hours. This is OK except it happens randomly up till 4am and they make a massive BOOM and would wake everybody up for kilometres. One night i recon we had one go off every 15mins or so from 12-4am. Another interesting point was that when we arrived they said they were over booked and could they send us to another hotel for 1 night at no cost. As we were staying for 12 we didnt think it was a bother. They also said it was a much nicer hotel. They sent us to the Diamond Cliffs, we also had a double upgrade at this hotel and had a "Romanitc Room", it was fantastic and would have cost heaps more than we were paying at the PBH per night. All was fine the next day, they picked us up and we checked in fine at the Patong Beach Hotel. They even upgraded us at there as well for the inconvenience. Quite a few Aussies stay here but many other nationalities as well.
