“Loved every minute!”

I was just reading this site and am dissappointed to see that people were dissatisfied with their experience at Thavorn. Me and my partner stayed for 12 nights in August/September 2011 and really could not fault the tranquility and friendliness of everyone around.
We arrived late at night and were greeted with a lovely refreshing drink...after soaking in our beautiful surroundings we were pleasantly guided to our beach bungalow room and felt very looked after.
The language barrier was sometimes a little hard...but none the less we managed as afterall we were visiting nother country and never once did this deter us from enjoying our stay. Had no problems within our room but i'm sure if we did they would have graciously looked after it promtly.
The distance from Patong was the best part about this resort. We were far enough away from the hussle and bussle to relax but also only a short tuk tuk ride if we wanted to venture in. The shuttle bus times did seem a little infrequent when we arrived but we worked our day out around them. And for us it worked fantastically.
Prices were a little more in the resort but from reviews i read prior to leaving i expected them to be much more. It was definately no more than what you would expect at any food outlet in Australia and worth it. All the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with everything.
I would definately recommend this resort. Everyones experiences are different but it's only as good as you let it be.
We are in the planning stages of another (longer) trip to Thailand and will definately be staying at Thavorn again. Although we will upgrade to a poolside villa this time round.
Thankyou to the staff at Thavorn and we will be seeing you all in the near future :)

“Beyond expectations”

Stayed for 2 nights in a beach view villa in January 2012. Had left the booking of our Phuket accommodation to my partner and when he said he'd booked in Patong, I expected loud nights and busy days. Pleasantly surprised on arrival by tranquility and a welcome drink. Took the cable car up to our room which was clean and spacious. Staff were helpful in assisting us with our luggage and in booking a tour. Buffet breakfast was good. I liked seeing the cats wandering around during breakfast but of course that's not everyone's cup of tea. Pool was lovely and clean, also ate once at the Old Siam Restaurant which was good and at the pool bar which was fine. Prices were no higher than what we expected at a tourist resort.

Only bugbear we had was the lack of wi-fi in our room (number 5108). Bought a 2.5 hour wi-fi card at reception for 200 baht which could be used in the reception area on our laptops or on the computers provided in reception.

“well beyond its hey day”

As most say, beautiful place, stunning surrounds, everything else about this place is average! We arrived at 9pm 7th November 2011 for 7 nights and the place looked great at night but when we got our first daylight glimpse in the morning it was clear the place is tired/ run down and in need of loads of maintenance. Staff seemed friendly enough,( except for the breakfast manager!) My partner wrapped 2 doughnuts in a napkin at breakfast to have for morning tea due to the lack of ( non existant ) facilities for snacks other than the way way over priced pool bar, no other food facilities open or exist! As we left, breakfast manager pounced and insisted she not take the parcelled doughnuts out of breakfast area, must be eaten there or no where! HOW PATHETIC! anyway we let the doughnut NAZI win his battle and drove on. The shuttle service to Patong is poorly run and too infrequent. Make sure you get the shuttle at 3pm even if your ticket says 3.30pm as the guy handing out tickets doesnt think it matters even when a 3:30 pm shuttle doesnt exist.
Russians are obviously the target market at this hotel, no problem to us but generally they are big units who like wandering around in severely undersized speedos!!
Over all the place is beautiful with average service and average food that is nearly 400% higher than available at nearby Kamala beach or Patong. Also we'd love an explanation from managment as to why the guy sent to fix our phone at 7pm ( and made no improvement ) chatted in Thai from our phone back to reception, put down receiver, walked to our mini bar fridge, bent down and inspected its contents,,closed door and walked back to phone and spoke to reception?? was all very wierd to us!
We had a beach bungalo which was fine but bathroom in need of updating and the wash basin set to a height suitable to people other than midgets!!!
Our advice would be to enjoy what is a lovely setting, but leave the hotel for meals as they are overpriced and nothing for entetainment at night - Patong is the fun zone.

Room Tip: beach bungalos are a bit tired but close to beach and breakfast facility.

“comfortable and good view, but....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

stayed here on Sept with 3 friends. the hotel was hard to find, since it is far away from patong beach. foreigner tounge to speak Thavorn is hard to understand by the driver. hard to go to anywhere. around 15 minutes by car to patong.

some of the staff were good, some are rude, especially the receptionist. food is ok.

this hotel is beautiful, and huge. we even got lost on our way to our rooms. the road to our room that was located by the beach was dark at night.

we enjoy staying in this hotel. exploring the beach. no need to stay with the crowd like in patong. perhaps will stay here again if come back to phuket.

Room Tip: travel on low season. because we got our room upgraded to beach side room.

Sawasdee kha……
Thank you for sharing your comments with us. It is always a pleasure to hear from our guests and your feedback is very valuable to management.

May we suggest to guests that they carry the resort telephone number with them so that should a taxi driver be unfamiliar with our location, they can call our resort and our staff will be happy to give directions over the phone. Please note that should you be coming from Phuket airport, we also offer an airport transfer service.

We find that most guests enjoy our location which is far away enough from Patong to enjoy a tranquil peaceful holiday, yet only 10 minutes drive away from Patong should they feel like more activity.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Thavorn Beach Village Resort and Spa, we hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Kind regards,
Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa

“A gem far from maddening crowd but a minus from nightlife”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011 via mobile

Stayed in ocean view room on 4th floor can already enjoy the view and the music of sea. If you want to stay far away from the noise of traffic, this would be great. But if you prefer shopping, it could be a minus. There are free transport at 10:30 and 3:30 to patong, or you can walk for 1.5hrs out or pay 300 for a cab.
Massage is of course expensive (THB1200 promotion rate). We tried the Jap lunch (small serving) and not sure if it is not hygienic or we are being sensitive... We itch after that meal.
The cable car to our room is quite frequent. You may also choose to walk up the steep steps to the rooms. The resort has many sculptures at every corner and you can easily spend hours appreciating them.
Btw, the taxi charges 700 to the hotel, but sawadee is charging 880... So better grab a taxi at the airport.
