“For the location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

If you want to be closed to the action, the Courtyard is for you! We booked the room at the last minute, so we paid a high rate for a junior suite. Well designed, comfortable beds, the only thing is that the bath at stains on it.

The were confused with my Marriot status, so they offered me free breakfast and free internet and later called me to tell me they made a mistake and non of it is included. So I did not try the Internet nor the breakfast.

It is located in the same building as the Hard Rock Cafe, and they have live band every evening.

Location is the main asset for this hotel. You're in the middle of it. Walking distance from restaurants, shoppings, beach and bars.

“Average hotel, nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The location is good and the pools are nice to relax by but thats about all that was impressive. The rooms were dated, the service was good but I was expecting more having stayed at many other Marriot resorts. I would look for a different hotel on my next visit to Patong

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This hotel is very centrally located in Patong.

The rooms were quite spacious and big. I would suggest you ask for a room away from the Hard Rock cafe as it can get very noisy in the evenings.

This hotel is a short walk away from the beach. I was highly dissapointed with this beach as it was extremeley busy and not very clean. I normally tend to book hotels with a private beach to avoid it being so busy. This beach was far too busy, you would find it very hard finding a quiet spot or even a sun lounger.

One thing this hotel could improve on is having wifi available in the bedrooms. Wifi is available in reception, however it wasnt a very good connection.

The pool area is quite nice here, eventhough we didnt make much use of it.

Overall this is a very nice hotel, however i would personally not return to Patong. this hotel is smack bang in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, so if you want a relaxing hotel by the beach, this hotel is definately not for you.

“Stayed, loved it, loved the staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The staff are excellent with young kids, they are agreeable and couldn't do enough to help. The service was second to none. I was happy every day and night in the Hotel. Matresses are like concrete after 2 weeks, but they will provide a cushioned 'topper' if they are too hard.
It is central to everything and Patong beach is a 2 min stroll, but a bit gritty for my liking, beaches further south are cleaner.
Loved it here, the kids loved it, the wife loved it, highly recommended.
We upgraded our room to a more expensive room halfway through our stay and it only cost another couple of hundred $AU for the week, on top of what we had already paid.

Room Tip: Ask for the room off the pool with a balcony on the 3rd floor, walk out into the pool area and step...

“Good but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I had booked two Premier rooms and requested for rooms in any location that was not noisy - we were all very senior cirtizens ! On checking in at around 9.30 at night we found our rooms to be above the Hard Rock Cafe on the ground floor - the glass panes were almost giving way to the gut wrenching music. So much for special requests ! They were good enough to change my room to floor 2 overlooking the courtyard with a huge jaccuzi just off the balcony (all rooms have them) - very nice. But at some unearthly hour the cleaners arrived and started setting up everything for the day talking loudly. This place needs to seriously look at sound curfew until a reasonable hour in the morning - there is already enough of noise from the streets around.
We tried the buffet one night and was really disappointed with the spread and the quality of food. Same price across the road at Holiday Inn was much better.Had the best meal in Phuket at the Thai place at Holiday Inn Buskaron - opted for the set dinner for two for 700 bhat - superb !
The rooms were big and roomy and very clean. A bit of grime under the basin, otherwise the bathrooms were really good - cheap soap notwithstanding !
Was looking out for the 'smell' in the lobby but it was missing the first two days. On the last day it was there near the lift area. Not present in the rooms though.
The corridors are in some cement aggregate that has absorbed the stains over time giving it a grotty look even though it was clean. Surely just tiling it in stone would not cast all that much !

Room Tip: Ask for inner courtyard rooms if you want a peaceful night.
