The good things about Piya: the owner is very friendly, the guest house is right by the lake and the two fascinating Wats in town, the rooms are clean. But apart from clean, the rooms are rather characterless and austere, the furnishings rather old and tired. The gardens around the rooms are pretty similar.

Piya is a perfectly good choice for a stopover in Mae Hong Son, and we certainly didn't spot anything better on a quick wander around. But it's nothing special.

Very pleasant bungalows with hot water close to the famous temple at the lake. Would absulotely go there again when in Mae Hong Son.

upon arriving at mae hong son we were shown around all of the local b&b`s by a driver you can hire at the airport for around £1. we chose the Piya Guest House as it is in a fantastic location right on the edge of the lake and very close to the temple.

The room was basic but very comfortable with a hot shower, tv and aircon. the staff are fantastic and cant do enough for you. the rate per hut is only around £8 per night which in my view is an absolute bargain.
when we left after a 4 night stay, the manager was great, she even gave us a hand made scarve each for being good customers.
This place is well recomended if you are ever in Mae hong son.

Have been to Mae Hong Son many times in the last 11 years. Decided to stay at Piya because of the location.

The rooms have been renovated recently and the entrance to the guesthouse changed (for the better) The room rate is still 600bt.

The rooms are spacious with private bathroom, have tv's and a/c. There is a small dining table and two chairs plus a large table, wardrobe & dresser. Could do with a fridge ! The rooms are very clean with table and two chairs on the verandah over looking the garden/vegetable patches. Free tea and coffee is provided in the large seating area over looking the beautiful lake. Off road parking is also available. Staff are friendly and there is free wifi with good connection. No food available but plenty of restuarants within walking distance and the night market around the lake (especially in high season) is a must for street food.
