“Incredible value for money - Highly recommended budget option”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

Just finished a 2 night stay in A Mansion Krabi and it is an excellent choice for a budget traveller. We paid 350baht for a fan room and consider it the best value accomodation on our south east asia trip. Given the price, I would rate this a 5/5 budget option.

Positives:
Large room with storage space for clothes and a clean en suite bathroom
Room was cleaned daily which was a real treat (and surprise)
Fan was a really powerful mitsubishi fan which we had to turn down at night as it was too cold! As good as air con.
Friendly staff
Lovely reception area
Security lockers

Negatives:
To be honest not too many for this price!
The walls could do with some paint
TV in the room?
Decent distance from Ao Nang and Railay beaches.

Great choice for a stop over in Krabi. recommended

“Cheap, clean rooms and very friendly, helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

We paid 500 baht per night for a double bedroom with air con and warm water. The bedsheets were clean and the room was a decent enough size. Basic accomodation but for the price we paid it was definitely worth it. There is free wi-fi here which is also an added bonus.
We were on the second floor but on the first night it was quite noisy due to people banging on doors and talking loudly, however no fault of the hotel just inconsiderate people.

One thing i would also like to mention is that during my stay i needed to see a doctor. I asked the receptionist where the nearest clinic was and she said she knew someone who was a doctor. Before i could say anything she had called him and he was at the hotel within 5 minutes. I didn't know what the hell to expect but he pulled up in a nice car, was smartly dressed and spoke good English. He then drove myself and my sister to the clinic where he worked at and was accompanied with his collegue/girlfriend (i'm not sure). They were both the most kind and genuine people i have ever met and for 1000 baht i was given the medication i required for an ear infection, given a full check up (which was better then any i have had back in the UK) and driven to and from the clinic. He even opened the car door for us and put an umbrella over us so we didn't get wet when we got out! Honestly i have never had a service like that, and would like to thank the staff, the doctor and the lady who accompanied him for all their kindness and much appreciated help.

For breakfast we ate at 89 Cafe just a few doors down. They were always pretty busy, did a good breakfast at a decent price and the staff were always friendly.
The food market just down from the pier is also worth a visit for some cheap, traditional thai food. We tried these mini coconut pancakes which were amazing! Also during fri, sat and sun there is a clothes market not too far from the pier called 'walking street'. This place was really busy, full of clothes, jewelry, food, drinks and interesting thai entertainment, well worth visit.

“Basic, but good value, and free WiFi!!”

Stayed in this hotel twice. The first time we got a fan room with private bathroom for 350 THB and the second time a double bedroom with a/c, TV, fridge and private bathroom. The hostel is very clean, and the beds are very comfortable. The rooms with fan are quite fresh. We wanted to book the fan room the second time we stayed there, but the place was almost full and only could offer us the a/c room. There's a computer with Internet in the reception for guests to use and there's also WiFi available in the reception area (and it reaches the 2nd floor of the main building). Instant coffee quite bad, but hey, it's instant coffee, from 6 am to 12 noon. The location is also quite good, in a quiet street, with some cafes around and near the daily night market.

“Great value for your money”

500 baht for a very clean bedroom with air conditioning, 2 twin beds, tv, fridge, bathroom. The room, bathroom and closet are quite large. A 5 minute walk to the night market (by the pier) where they have great and cheap food. A 5 minute walk to the pier where the long tail boats go to Ao Nang or Railay Beach. The receptionist spoke English well and was very helpful. Can buy tickets to anywhere and anything at the receptionist.

“Standard room, nothing fancy but it's cheap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2009

We stayed for 2 nights for 400 baht per night. We just got a basic room that was up on the top floor, way in the back of the building. The room was kind of small but had closet space. There was a tv and the a/c worked well. The bed was comfy enough. The staff did not speak a lot of English (except for one girl) but they tried to help you if you had any questions.

Krabi has an excellent night market for food. It's down by the river and I reckon it's the best place to eat there for dinner. Try the little coconut pancakes! There's lots of cafes that play movies at night, otherwise there isn't much going on there. The internet shops were usually open quite late.

The A Mansion was quiet and for what we paid, I don't think we could have expected anything more - it was clean, basic and it worked well for a short stay.

Make sure you catch the pick up trucks with a route written on the side to and from the bus station because it's not walking distance to the town area. The trucks that run a regular route from Krabi bus station to Ao Nang are the cheapest - I think 50 baht each way per person. When we first arrived we got herded to a private truck and ended up paying 150 baht just to get from the bus station into Krabi town! Had we known about the other trucks we could have just waited around the bus station until we saw one come through. They aren't on a schedule but there's tons of them. Not a whole lot to do in Krabi itself but there are larger stores if you need toiletries.
