We (couple) stayed here for four nights at the end of a month-long trip through Vietnam and Thailand. We decided that we needed a few days of total relaxation prior to heading back home - the Rest Detail Hotel certainly gave us what we needed!
We were greeted with cups of lemon tea and cold towels immediately as we entered the hotel - this was a nice touch which set the mood straight away. A staff member also sat down on the lounges with us and talked us through all their services and facilities - so much nicer than standing at a reception desk. We were taken straight to our room, even though we arrived prior to advertised check-in time. We had a Rest Green room which was the cheapest of their rooms. However, it was very spacious, with a large balcony with a day bed and gorgeous bathroom (loved the shower with overhead shower rose and 2 sprays coming out from the side and the lovely scented gels and lotions).
The hotel facilities were all great and the feeling of relaxation and being pampered was always there. The hotel is broken into a couple of sections, each with a large pool, so you never felt that you were one of a large crowd - seemd much more personal and boutique. THe breakfasts were excellent, with a big range of dishes, including eggs cooked a la carte.
The hotel is a bit away from the main town area of Hua Hin (about 6kms). This means that it is a bit more restful, but you do need to make the effort to go to experience the cafes and markets. There is a shuttle service that runs about 4 times a day (free from 1 Feb 2012) but you will need to plan your time. We also walked the distance several times in an effort to exercise some of the great food off!
We looked at the Hilton and the Centara which are located right in the middle of the action. They are both beautiful hotels and have private beaches. However, they are very big hotels and we preferred the more inimate feel of the Rest Detail.
Overall, would highly recommend this hotel
