Stayed January 2012, 7 nights in two adjoining grand deluxe rooms in the Regency Club. Family with two kids 7 & 5 years old. Also stayed at the Sheraton Hua Hin prior to moving to Hyatt (Glad we moved - see Sheraton review).
The Hotel is approximately 10 years old. Rooms in the Regency Club wing are absolutely brand spanking new with everything you could wish for in a five star resort - magic. The "general" hotel rooms were starting to show there age (soft funinishings bathrooms etc)but still comfortable. The Regency Club grand deluxe rooms are larger than the standard club rooms and are located on the ground floor with small garden. The whole resort is very lush and green.
Regency Club: It is well worth the extra money. Includes continental breakfast but eggs etc can also be ordered. Then compliemntary non alcoholic drinks and tea/coffee, fruit etc all day. Each night between 5-7pm alcholic drinks and small foods served. This was great for kids because they essentially had dinner - satay's, salads, deserts all laid on. If they wanted more the Club arranged pizza to be delivered. There were a number of other families with small kids using the Club this way. Additionally if you stay in the club you get included a one hour massage each day at the Spa. Miss a day and you get a two hour the next day. As we had two rooms my wife and I got massages each day. As the cost of the massage is approx THB3000 or A/US$100 per session plus the food and drinks included means the extra costs for the Regency Club is virtually justified straight away.
Kids Club: Internally small - but with plenty of activities. If you needed a baby sitter after hours the hotel arranged for a Kids club staff memeber to do it so the kids knew who is looking after them. One of the Kid's Club staff members, a girl called Arm, was sesational. On the day of our departure she came to our room and presented the kids with a small gift - "Angry Birds" T shirt and flower headband that she had obviously bought herself. The kids where delighted - talk about going the extra mile! There is also a large outdoor playground which is located on the otherside of the resort next to the tennis court and has lounges etc.
Pools - The various pools are beautiful. The waterslide fantastic for kids and grown up's alike. The You and Mee restaurant overlooking the main pool and waterslide on the side pool was sensational as you could have lunch and still supervise. There was a small beach area on one of the side pools for toddler's to use.
Gym: Looked good but instead used the tennis court. For a small fee we had a "knocker'' - a gym staff member who you could play against which was a good idea- especially if your other half is enjoying the spa at the same time.
Food; Really good at all the various restaurants. The lunch specials at You and Mee (incl a beer or glass of wine) was very good value. Kids menus also good and very reasonable. Talay Thai had special menus each night so you got variety. McFarlan House very relaxing with thai tapas style overlooking the beach.
Beach: wide and good for a long walk.
Spa - sensational -architectually stunning.
Only gripe: The beds in the Regency Club were rock hard. Not sure if this was a product of them being brand new.
Transport - Hua Hin is approx 3 hours drive south of Bangkok. If you arrive in Bangkok late night (as most flights from Australia are) stay the first night at the Grand Hyatt Bangkok. They then have a hotel shuttle (mercedes vito) departing Bangkok at 10am each day taking guests to Hua Hin for approx THB 600 A/US$20 per person. When in Hua Hin rather than using taxis use the Hotel's Mercedes E class. They charge you the same as a standard taxi fare which is a a good plus.
Would we return? You bet - can't wait. The Hyatt Hua Hin togther with the Westin Langkawi in Malaysia are two exemplary destinations for beach holidays for both families and couples alike.
Combine the Hyatt Hua Hin with a stay at Le Meridien Chiang Rai ( see reviews), in northern Thailand it is has all the makings of a great Thai holiday - both mountains (elephants) and beach all in one.
Room Tip: The Regency Club rooms are worth the extra cost.

Dear CPC68
I wish to thank you for your very specific feedback on your recent stay at the resort.
We are happy to learn that you and your family had enjoyable stay and experienced the resort's diverse activities and facilities.
We are also grateful for your kind testimony about the good value of staying at the Regency Club room. The Regency Club Deluxe that you stayed is indeed a larger room and this also included one hour spa treatment per room per day at THE BARAI which your wife enjoyed.
We will look into the mattress of the room you stayed as eventhough it was new there should be no reason for this being that hard. If we knew this we could have assisted by adding topper onto the mattress.
Once again our sincere appreciation for the excellent observation and this comments will motivate us to strive in enhancing the guest experiences through our products and services.
With sincere regards
Sammy Carolus
