We stayed in the Asara for 7 nights. Although hidden away from the main road once into the lobby the beauty & tranquility of the hotel is evident. We stayed in a deluxe suite and were impressed at both the size and facilities of the suite.Staying in a 1st floor we had access to a large balcony including day bed overlooking the lagoon. The room itself had separate bedroom/living area and large bathroom. The bathroom had separate shower and large bath and then there was the added bonus of an outside rain shower which we used every day.
The hotel provided an ideal opportunity for a restful, relaxing week and a particular bonus was having the lagoon pool virtually to ourselves. The majority of people seem to prefer the beach side pool which is excellent, however having the lagoon pool to ourselves meant we spent most days here.
The hotel grounds are beautifully kept and are unlike anything else we have ever stayed in, you really are transported into a tropical paradise.
Breakfast is served in the Kampu Restaurant every morning. On the first 4 days of our stay there was an extraordinary selection of food available, from sushi and dim sum to continental breakfasts. However for our last 3 days during a quieter period the selection did reduce somewhat.
The hotel is approximately 5kms outside the main centre of Hua Hin, however the hotel does provide 2 free shuttle buses both into (18:00 & 20:00) and out of (20:30 & 22:30) town. If you wish to go into town outside of the free shuttle buses the hotel will arrange a taxi for you for 200 baht. Tuk Tuks can also be used for return trips and can be haggled down from 200 - 150 baht
On the whole service in the hotel ranged from average to excellent. The hotel in terms of facilities is indeed a 5 star hotel, however the service doesn't consistently match other 5 star hotels we have stayed in. This is only a minor niggle however and shouldn't prevent you from booking
