“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

We stayed at the accommodation for 4nights on our visit to Chiang Rai. On arrival we were shown to our room, which was huge, light, and with a good size bathroom with seperate loo. Adequate wardrobe space, tea & coffee facilities, and complimentary water each day.

Downstairs the bar/restaurant was always quiet, due to staff shortages not much happened in the evening. Internet was available at 30 bahts for an hour. Breakfast was adequate, eggs to order, with sausage or bacon, toast and fresh fruit.

The Manager, I found to be very helpful and friendly, he spoke good english and was always willing to help.

We booked Jermsak for 2days, which was fantastic and well worth it, we also arranged for Air, his driver to take us out on our last day to the market in Mae Sai, and she was very helpful.

Market is nearby, a good restaurant to try is the Siam Village which is left as you come out of the hotel, and its at the bottom of the street.

We had an excellent time in Chiang Rai, and the accomodation more than fitted the bill. If you would like further info, feel free to contact me.

“Gem in Chiang Rai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

Initially I was a little hesitant when we reached the hotel as the building looked a little run down and the reception area was quite dim. However upon going to the rooms, I had a totally different view. The rooms are big and airy, the bathrooms equally spacious. As the hotel is off the main road and there are only a handful of rooms, there is hardly, if any noise.

Though there was just a tiny issue with English, the hotel staff did an excellent job to sort any of our queries out. The manager - Mr Narin Chaiya was very helpful in organizing a day trip to the Golden Triangle and surrounding areas. The cook - Mr Pichet was obliging as well to cook some mushrooms for our breakfast which we had brought from the morning market.

Location wise is fantastic - just a stone's throw away from the clock tower, night bazaar, 7-eleven, boots, atm, there is also a bakery just up the road selling your daily bread and cakes. The weekend market is a short walk away.

Overall, a pleasant stay and I would stay here again if I do return to Chiang Rai!

“Good Location to Night Markets”

My partner and I had three nights at Starbright Hotel in the beginning of September. We had a Deluxe Suite on the third floor which overlooked the street.

The room was extremly spacious with large bed, seperate toilet, bath/shower and basin. The room also had lots of storage facilities and mini bar.

Aircon worked well, and the beds were hard, but we knew to expect that as we have travelled around Asia numerous times.

There was an ATM across the road, as well as a pay phone. The hotel did offer internet but it was quite slow. Breakfast was included in our rate and there were a few different options to choose from.

We really like the location of this hotel, it was walking distance to the Night Bazaar, old bus station, clock tower and Walking Street.

“Great place for an overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

Starbright was the perfect place for an overnight. It is steps from the Night Market and, though it was on a somewhat busy street, it was very quiet. We stayed in the top floor “Executive Suite” which was huge. This is not a luxury hotel, but it is clean and quiet. Important to note that there are no lifts so you need to be in good shape to get to rooms on the upper floors. Service was attentive and very polite.

“Good hotel in good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

We stayed here for 3 nights in mid July and we found the staff very welcoming and helpful. We had booked 2 deluxe rooms but one was unavailable when we arrived so they gave us an executive room on top floor for no extra cost.

Its a small hotel in a side street. Rooms were spotless and clean and well laid out with plenty of storage. TV , Fridge, Hairdryer, Tea/coffee making facilities all ok.
Internet coverage, which is free can be a bit patchy so we used our laptops on the ground floor where coverage was fine.

Breakfast was basic but good it served its purpose we had juice, cereal, toast, coffee and Bacon and eggs every morning, compared to other hotels we stayed in on our 3 week trip it did not have the same choice but this was OK as its a small hotel.
The only problem was the darkness of the landing from the 4th to the 3rd floor and 2 of the steps are not the same height so you ned to be careful, I pointed this out to the manager when we were leaving.

We paid an additional 500 Baht to keep one of the rooms until 7pm that evening which i thought was reasonable

Nevertheless, a good hotel and we would stay here again if we wanted a hotel in a good central location.
