We have just returned from our second holiday at this resort, and again loved it. We found the staff much improved this year, noticably more friendly and helpful. This was great as one of the things that surprised us last year was that the staff were not on the whole as good as we expected, and it certainly looks as though some work has been done in this area.
At check in they welcomed us back and offered us the same room as we had last year, overlooking the pool and beach which we were very happy with. As it wasn't ready for us early in the morning when we arrived, they gave us a superior room to have a sleep and shower and we moved into our room later in the afternoon which was great.
Unfortunately we found the same problems with most of the sunbeds around the pool being saved very early in the morning for the mainly elderly long term stayers who just sat round the pool, day in and day out. This hasn't been dealt with adequately by management, as I suspect they do not want to upset them, but it does annoy other tourists who want to sit round the pool to find there is no beds left by 09:00!
We mainly sat on the beach where there was a nice breeze so didn't let this bother us.
Again we did not eat in the hotel at all as we spent every evening in the village to the left of the hotel, Bang Kwai, where there are several good restaurants and bars, and lovely friendly people to make your holiday special. We especially love the Bluebell bar (congratulations on the new arrival on 4th Noo) and the fantastic owner and all the staff at the Mermaid Restaurant, not to mention the lovely food, who made our holiday so special again.
The drinks and food in the hotel, although not expensive by UK standards, is considerably worse value than outside.
We had 4 massages in the spa and these were fantastic and very good value compared to the UK. Obviously not as cheap as on the beach, but the atmosphere, aromatherapy oils, and attention was second to none and well worth the higher cost. Highly recommended.
One thing I must also mention is the beautiful flower arrangements which are changed very regularly, and the lovely shady gardens which are very well kept.
I see one review said this was a 5 star hotel, my tour operator said it was 3 star, well it is certainly the best 3 star I have ever had the pleasure of staying in, and we may well be back again next year, as so many people we met both this year and last do.
Room Tip: The Deluxe rooms have a sea view although some may have palm trees in the way
