Where to begin. This is by no means a perfect resort, but it is absolutely charming, idyllic and highly memorable.
Situated in a remote part of the island, the resort is accessible only really via boat. There is a shuttle but this obviously limits your flexiblity, but you can get a taxi boat if required for a reasonable sum.
The resort's main charms are its isolation, its small size -- meaning it is very personal and you are not overrun -- the single-room chalets that boast the most exquisite view, and the very good food in the restaurant that caters to all tastes (even my heathen love of Italian food), and the general sense of calm. It is also situated on a brilliant reef, which makes it a wonderful snorkling and scuba diving destination.
Sadly, this means that it is also frequented on a daily basis by groups of tourists from other parts of the island, which slightly undermines the isolated charm.
But I have to say, this was definitely one of the most memorable parts of our trip.
The rather (Ok, very) moody owner and over-worked staff added to the charm (in our view) but a few things to note: first, its almost impossible to get a cocktail here (despite the extensive cocktail list), so don't bother.
Secondly, although they did not tell us upfront, they will require you to settle your bill in cash. Bearing in mind the nearest cashpoint is a 35 minute boat-ride away, this would have been worth knowing upfront -- so make sure you ask about this when you sign in.
Finally ,there is absolutely no phone reception, which makes communication with any nearby friends a bit tricky (but great for beleagured other halves whose partners are surgically attached to iphone/blackberry'/laptop.
Definitely worth a night or two.
