The Sudala Beach Resort ihas the same owner's as the nearby Mukdara Hotel. The Mukdara has better facilities but the Sudala is less expensive. Nevertheless it is good value for money and we had nothing to fault the rooms, staff or breakfast. The hotel is not directly on the beach but across a minor road - still not far and within easy reach of several good and cheap beach restaurants.

We stayed for two weeks in late january 2011 with our 2½ years old kid.
The hotel is mainly visited by German and Scandinavian seniors.

The staff is very friendly, though misunderstandings tend to occur due to poor language skills.Don't expert every request to be understood. (Seems to be the name of the game in Thailand.)

Our package tour was relatively cheap and therefore value for money was good. The hotel was sold as a 3½ star hotel (out of 6) and as such was very good.
The restaurant is nice - located at the beach. Sunset view is complementary. Cuisine good when it comes to Thai food, though less interesting when it comes to European food (when in Rome ...). The 5-10 other restaurant within two minutes walk are just as good.

The beach is a little steep - walk 5 mins at the beach (to either side) to find more children-suited beach.

Up's:
The hotel is quite nice. The staff is friendly. Location 10 steps from the beach. The pool areas are OK.The restaurant is fine.
Downs:
The beds are much too hard to be comfortable. There is a slightly damp smell in the room due to proximity of vegetation and pool at ground floor - probably first or second floor rooms are better. Hotel guests are mainly +50 yrs.

We stayed two weeks at Sudala in December 2010. Me, my wife and our son (3 years).
The location is right on the Bang Niang beach, which is wonderful. The beach is clean and the view good.
The restaurant and bar is located with beach view, the food is good and the staff very helpful. I can recommend their BBQ!!!
Since the restaurant has the beach location the main building and bungalow is located further inland and you need to cross a small road, with not much trafic at all. We had a bungalow without any view what so ever. The room was very large but a bit dull, although very clean and the cleaning was perfect. Due to mosquitos it was hard to sit in the deck chairs outside the bungalow, but with 1 min walk to the beach bar it was not a major issue.
I also must mention the very hard beds, like it or not
The hotel has got two pool areas with a childrens area and is nice and clean.

From the hotel to Khao Lak center takes about 10 min by taxi and taxi costs 150 baht, fixed rate. Within walking distance is a 2 km long shopping/restaurant street so there is no need to go to Khao Lak center every night.

We can recommend the hotel for all that is after a pleasant stay without surprises. The staff takes well care of you. Good for couples looking for a romantic stay or families with smaller kids. For people looking for party or families with children in their teens I would suggest a hotell closer to Khao Lak center.

The staff, the location on the beach, and the cleanness is what is the best with this hotell.

We stayed at Sudala beach resort in December 2009, a truly wonderful family resort. It is clean and tidy and incredibly friendly staff. They help with everything with a smile. Large rooms with a very good breakfast in a restaurant by the beach. Two large pool areas and its own beach area with free sun loungers and a bar.
Fantastik nice beaches north of Sudala for walking miles without meeting a human being.
