We just return from Sunset resort.Our stay were perfect.Grand delux room I recommend you.Perfect view,clean and comfortable.Very helpful staff.Nad is perfect.Restaurant nice, with acceptable prices.What to say about the beach the best one.The hotel is 20min walk distance from main restaurant and shopping area.

On arrival my wife was definitely not impressed with the Sunsets superior room. On the other hand I was fine with it as I never had too many expectations. The price we were paying was very reasonable and I knew there would be some downsides.
The room was large and satisfactory, it had a massive balcony which would be great for parties but not so practical to sit and relax on as you have to walk right to the end of it to get the best view of the beach

Positives
- Compared to nearby resorts I believe the sunset has the best beachfront
- The view is very nice
- It is very quiet, maybe too quiet for some people
- Service was fine
- Breakfast was very good and great that it is included in hotel price
- Last resort on the beach strip so feels secluded
- Best beach location compared to nearby resorts
- Most rooms, if not all would have a great view
- Cot for our baby wasn’t very good so we used our portable cot.
Negatives
- Rooms are not very attractive but quite big
- Big Balcony not practical
- The bed mattress was rock hard
- Not much atmosphere
- Travel to town by taxi can start to cost you if you make the trip a lot
- Internet charges add up as well
- The restaurant food was average. I wouldn’t eat there.
- Loud fishing boats were nearby most mornings about breakfast time. Destroys a relaxing breakfast. Not sure if it is always the case. Just happened the 4 days we were there.

I would recommend the resort to those who want a very quite/ secluded resort, who don’t want to go into town too often, wont use the internet, and who aren’t too particular about having a modern room.

We realised that we wanted to be closer to the Khao Lak town centre, so changed to Nangtong Bay resort which was more expensive but with the free internet and no need to catch taxis the price wasn't too different.

We only stayed three nights here but were impressed with the hotel for the price. We were given a room on the first floor initially but the bathroom smelt so bad we complained - they immediately sent someone from maintenance but it did nothing to help so they moved us to a third floor room. Bathroom was better there but the water pressure in the shower was pretty pathetic. The rooms were clean, spacious and have nice balconies and all have a sea view - lovely sunsets! The restaurant is right on the beach and breakfasts were pretty good in comparison to some other hotels we stayed at.
Dinner was superb! Presentation, service, price and quality of the meal was outstanding. We only ate dinner there, on the beach, on the last night and wished we had tried it sooner. Highly recommended!
Beach is nice - sunbeds provided free and it is a nice quiet end of the beach. This place is not for anyone wanting a livley night life - but perfect for a quiet getaway. You can get to town by taxi in about 10 mins from the hotel.

We stayed for 4 nights at this peaceful resort. Nice sized room with a beautiful view of the beach. It was comfortable but not luxurious. Rooms, especially the bathrooms do need upgrading. However, what the resort lacks in luxory is more than compensated by the friendliness of the staff. The food we ordered for dinner was excellent and very reasonable. The Chef is to be applauded. Plus they make the best mojitos !! Kong was our waiter for dinner and he was exceptional. Nus waited on us at breakfast and he was excellent also. Breakfast is not as good as the dinner menu but still adequate. We were amazed how few people ate dinner there, yet it was the best food we had anywhere in So. Thailand. Khao Lak's best kept secret! A nice place to stay if you want something low key.
