“Okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

Travelled in early January with with family from Denmark, me and my wife are both from the UK.
Firstly the Hotel was dominated by people from Sweden and Finland and we did not meet anyone in the whole area from the UK in the two weeks we were there. Despite having the advantage of speaking English it did not work out that way as the standard of English was so bad the Scandinavians faired better as they spoke broken English!!
The buffet food was okay both for breakfast and evening meal but have to say we have had much better. The hotel exploits the drink prices in the restuarant and it is the one thing they are sharp at taking your orders for drinks as they are making money from it.
To be honest we gave up eating in the hotel as restuarants nearby were so cheap including the drinks. NOTE do not eat evening meals at the beach restaurant overpriced and poor service far better locally.
Location and beach are nice and plenty of massages available on the beachfront. We went to White Sand beach for a day well worth the trip and more like we imagined Thailand would be. Also went fishing for the day arranged by Joe at Joe's seafood and he cooked the fish for free in the evening and played golf at the Royal Navy Golf Course which was ok but better courses are in Phuket.
Hotel charges for wireless internet!!

“The most stressful holiday we have ever had and worst hotel in thailand.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2011

The first room we were booked into STUNK of SEWERAGE and MOULD. Within Minutes we all began to sneeze and allergie symptoms began. We had booked 2 rooms for 3 people, so on the first night we ALL slept in 1 room as we were told there were NO other rooms we could change to. The next day we were moved and ended up being miles away from each other. Both rooms had sumptous views of of a large generator, the staff car park, and delivery bay. Lovely and quiet NOT!!!!!!
ANY room from 2964 to 2950 will give this awesome supposed "GARDEN VIEW ROOM"
To make it even more relaxing this area suffers regular blackouts and lucky for us the generator sounds like a JUMBO JET taking off every time it started at 5 am and 11pm and various times in between.
In the photo's we saw a picture of having breakfast on the beach. NO SUCH THING when we arrived.
Breakfast was served in a small and incredibly chaotic and crowded restaurant with virtually no staff to clear, organize tables and virtually NO english was spoken to ask for help in seating.
When we asked why there was no breakfast at the restaurant beach, they told us they had stopped serving breakfast there and it was ONLY available for lunch dinner and cocktails.
Onto bedding and towels and house maids. Day 3 and my foot goes straight through the sheet as it was so worn. Every day they forget to top up either the water, tea and coffee, tissues and toilet paper so we decided we would lay the items on the writing table to remind them.
When we finalized our bill we demanded a refund on the first night as we had only used one room (as we were not offered another room that night ) and they flatly denied us.
We booked through Agoda.com and we complained to them and they too were not interested in helping us out in any way at all.
We didn't even mention the other crap we had to endure at the hotel and we never got our interconnecting rooms (even though I emailed the hotel directly and was ASSURED it wouldnt be a problem.)
All in all a waste on $3000 for each of us and our view of Thailand totally spoiled.
We Have stayed at other hotels in the same area with NO problems at all.

“Not worthy of recommendation”

1. The first room introduced was under construction. Many carpenter tools were scattered on the bath floor.
2. At the next room introduced, entry key suddenly became useless in next day. I had to walk to the front desk which was located in another building. It was a hot day and a few minutes walk made me all sweaty.
3. In the next day, the same accident occurred and made me sweaty again. (Possibly it was the same day as before. Sorry, I did not remember it accurately.)
4. There was no internet connection in the room. Wireless LAN was available only around the front desk, and it cost 70 bahts per every 30 minutes. Unbelievable for me.
5. Most importantly, my digital camera disappeared in the hall which was chartered for two days. It happened during the lunch time, when our meeting staff leave there just for a while. Who took away my camera? This mystery has not been solved until now.

Conclusion: I might be lucky because it was my camera stolen, not my passport or my life. However, I never use this hotel again. Never. My impression of Khaolak also became very bad, although the sea and the beach were so beautiful. We have to be prudent when we choose the hotel in beautiful resort.

“Good location, but poor service, and expensive bad food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

Need to say up front that the location is terrific with a great beach pretty much in the middle of the Khao Lak bay. Also should add that the children we travelled with (ages 1-3) had a great time with the different pool options and playgrounds. However, despite very friendly staff, the service was unacceptable. Examples include very slow and incorrect service at the indoor- as well as the beach restaurants, but also that we had to call and visit the front desk 3-4 times to get things like clean sheets or to fix our broken lock on the door. The food at both restaurants was quite expensive and not very good. Every night we had to send something back. It could take us up to an hour before we were served even when the beach restaurant was almost empty. When we raised our concerns at check-out, we were offered a complimentary lunch at the beach restaurant (ironically enough). All-in-all, this could become a great resort if actions were taken to fix a number of smaller issues that unfortunately add up to a rather poor experience. However, the hotel manager was not around during our entire 10-day stay to receive our comments.
