We spent 2 weeks at the Kantary Beach during Christmas and New Year. We came with great expectations, but were rather disappointed in the resort. We stayed in a junior suite and that was great. Loved having a living room and also the small kitchenette was nice. But, the cleaning left a lot to be desired. And all in all the finishing of the room was terrible. The bathroom was full of stains, as the tiling had been made very unprofessionally. Everything looked as if it had just been done without paying any attention to the quality you are supposed to have in a 4+ star hotel.
The food in the restaurant was mediocre at best and expensive considering the quality of the food and the choice of the menu. The breakfast got pretty boring, having the same choices for two weeks. The pancakes were great, that was bonus! The more expensive restaurant served also very basic food at a high price. Not very impressive. We loved the little restaurants along the beach with super food and service and went out many nights to Khao Lak city. The shuttle bus service was excellent.
The biggest disappointment was the fact that we as a couple without children were not important as customers. The kids club activities almost every single day ruined totally our attempts to enjoy the terrace bar during sunset. The loud music and dancing kids would go on for an hour. How can that be possible? And there were no areas excluded from children, every pool was crowded with small screaming children and so was the beach. Would be thoughtful for those travelling without kids to have some space where you could relax and read in peace without listening to yelling, screaming and playing kids. We were looking for a quiet holiday with lots of relaxation, but sadly that didn't happen for us at all.
