“Beautiful resort, great service and staff”

We stayed over Easter this year with our child. Took one of the fabulous beach bungalows. Although it was high season there were not too many guests and it felt very exlusive. The staff makes you feel more than welcome, rather like part of a big family. The place must definitely be one of the best if not the best in KhaoLak. All the other places we saw when wandering up and down the beach were rather gastly in comparison and crowded. The gardens of this resort are lovingly kept, the pool is also great, though we found the water a bit too warm to be refreshing. The beach area is fantastic and very relaxing and stylish. Nothing ugly and not too posh either. There are wonderful big trees, so no problem to find a lovely place in the shade, which is a big plus when you have small kids. The only thing that could be improved is perhaps the restaurant. We ate there a few times but didn't like it so much, otherwise we would have had dinner there all the time because it is so nice to eat out on the beach. This was rather surprising as the gala buffet/BBQ we had one evening was delicious. The staff are not only super nice they are real artists. We very much enjoyed the show they put on one night (with buffet, see above) with singing, dancing and a spectacular fire breathing show. When they heard our child had its birthday, they made a wonderful cake with candles and all, a real treat. All in all were more than satisfied and would recommend this resort to all those who love it peaceful and quiet. Congratulations and keep up the standards.

“fabulous spot”

We stayed here for 10 days. It is a beautiful hotel in the national park - ten minutes walk from shops and restaurants. We were upgraded to a delux bungalow next to the pool which was great as it was the quiet season. I would recommend a superior bungalow in the busy times as it would be noisy. We loved the room and the location of the hotel. This section of the beach is great - further north you are a long way from shops and have less choice of restaurants. The staff were wonderful. negatives were - yes the beds are very hard, the breakfast was good but not a lot of choice, the wall between bungalows were thin and a short but steep climb to the road. You can walk along the beach and up through the next hotel - less of a climb...these are outweighted by the positives - fabulous location, great pool and staff and service. I would happily go back. Lots of great restaurants, The Candle, Hill Tribe and on white sands beach Ao thong were all wonderful. We loved it.

“Exactly what we were looking for!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2010

Khao Lak Paradise Resort lies on the Sunset Beach in Khao Lak. It is situated in a very green environment with the rainforest literally on your doorstep. I loved the surroundings, it is exactly what I am looking for on a tropical vacation.
The gardeners puts a tremendously work in keeping the garden in shape. They even put fresh flowers everyday in the buckets with water used for cleaning your feets from the sand before entering your bungalow.

We were upgraded to a bungalow just 15 mtrs from the little pool and another 10 mtrs from the beach. Perfect with little children.
The bungalow had a big bedroom with a king size bed. We had a babycrib for the 2 year, whilst the 5 year shared the king size with us.
There was a little table and some chairs to it. The TV was never used so I can not say anything about the reception or channels.
The bathroom was huge with a jacuzzi (filled with flowers when we arrived!) and a separate, large shower.
We had a large porch with two comfy chairs and a rack for wet clothes.

The only downside when it came to the bungalow was that they constantly changed all the towels even if we hang them back on their racks. However the bed sheets were kept the same throughout or stay (5 nights). Not a big deal, but we just wonder why.

The pool was small but clean and almost always empty. Enough with sunbeds that you did not have to book at 7AM in the mornings. Most of the guests seemed to prefer to stay at the beach which was just another 10 meters away. Even there you could get a sunbed later in the day.

The staff was lovely. If I had paid the normal rate for the room I would however had expected more from the service. They did their best and they seemed to enjoy their work, but it is the small details that does the difference between a four and five star resort.

Breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit and a omelete station and everything that you could ask for. We tried the restaurant for lunch and dinner and the food was very good but as always much more expensive than the local, thai beach restaurants.
The lack of local beach restaurants was a disappointment to me as I normally prefer them from the restaurants of the resorts.
However, do try the Baan Krating restaurant on the hills at the end of the beach. At least for the views!

Overall I felt that the Khao Lak beach at this area lacked some of the stuff I more or less expected from a touristic thai beach and which you can find on for examplw Ko Lanta. There was no smaller bars or similar at the beach putting comfortable cushions/chairs/mats or lights in the sand when the sun was setting. You had to stay at the resort. Or get to Khao Lak center. I am not speaking of high music or dance clubs...

At the time being we were the only family with small children. Most of the guest were older than us and travelled without kids. They were mainly from Switzerland and Germany.
The beach is beautiful, however the sand is more brown than white. There are waves making it hard for small children to enter the waters.

Would I return, most definitely! We stayed at three different hotels on this vacation and Khao Lak Paradise Resort was the best one. We moved because we wanted to find friends to our 5 year old girl, but I can definitely recommend the hotel to anyone else!

“it has taken us 20 years to find our perfect thai getaway”

I know all the others have recommended this hotel too but i must add that they are all correct in assessing this place: smoothly and unobtrusively run, exotic jungle type setting, dining on the beach with your feet in the sand, faultless service and thai smiles everywhere.

It is certainly true there is nowhere on this beach that matches it for a relaxed stay in pleasant environment, only 30 units, spread out loungers and plenty to go round, uncrouded pool and the restaurant food is remarkably good too with excellent fruit and choice of breads for breakfast.

Any downsides? You need to book early (months ahead) and I would like the hotel to consider sweeping the sand smooth daily as other beaches do. The internet is a bit of a shlep from the beach (as is reception) but free and there is free wifi. A tuk tuk is really required to get to the town for shopping etc (80 baht for tow pax) or 30 minute walk.

The rooms are not huge but the units are beautifully landscaped with a little stream in the grounds, huge granite boulders and extensive birdlife in the vegetation

Would we come back? Oh yes..

“our own paradise in Thailand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2010

We have recently returned from our second stay at Khao Lak Paradise resort. I don't think I can find words which are lyrical enough to express how much we love this place. I would define it a hotel for the soul. This is not a place for those who look for wild nights in Thailand. The whole of Khao Lak is very quiet. Khao Lak Paradise is a retreat from our hurried lives.

Now to the facts.
The hotel is relatively small , 30 rooms. We have stayed in both deluxe and villas. Deluxe is often used in Thailand to indicate a standard room. However, both types of rooms are beautifully appointed in tropical style and overlook the incredible garden. They are not only beautiful, but comfortable, clean and large and daily decorated with fresh flowers.
Breakfast is extensive and very good. The pool and beach are pristine and there is plenty of sun loungers for late sleepers like us.

Now the garden. Did I say it's incredible? yes, it is. It's just a little piece of Eden, full of gorgeous flowers, emerald plants and funny statues. Beautiful butterflies flutter around. Not one leaf is left unattended.

And now the best part, the people. Everyone from the owner, to Mrs. Sornkanok the manager, to the pool-bar guys is incredibly kind, way beyond the duty of their service. We have traveled Thailand extensively and have seen quite a bit of the world. We hardly ever return to a hotel, but the Khao Lak paradise and its people have conquered a special place in our heart. We will be back!
