Ended up to Khao Lak Inn after booking an unspecified accommodation-trip through the travel agency. After we found out the hotel name, we tried to search in on the internet but these Tripadvisor reviews where the only results. The hotel does not have a website and is not bookable through any booking websites. We found this strange and realized we should not expect much. It is true the rooms are clean but also old and worn. The bathroom smells musty and desperately needs a renovation. Our room was definitely a smoking room, the smell was a bit annoying sometimes and also keeping the ac on made the smell stronger. A big cockroach in our room the first evening but it appeared to be a solo traveller, we did not see any more of them during our stay. Air conditioning works well. The price of the room was 700 baht/night when asked from the reception so you get what you can expect with that price. I think this place is suitable for a budget traveller who does not care how the room looks like as long as it is clean and well located. But if you wish to enjoy your holiday in beautiful surroundings with good and modern facilities, this is not your place. We stayed for 2 nights and moved on. There should be wlan in the rooms (for extra charge) but they did not manage to make it work in ours (using iPad). Hotel laundry service quick and reliable. The man in the reception is very helpful and speaks good English. Some rooms have balconies, some don't. Some balconies facing the main street, some facing the inner yard. The hotel is located in Khao Lak center, though there is nothing much to see or do in that "center". My overall rating is "poor" because the room and the bathroom were so unattractive, worn and smelly but the location/reception/air conditioning would qualify for "average" overall rating.
