The hotel has an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. It is located in a quiet area on the outskirts of Moshi within landscaped gardens. The hotel has serviced deluxe en-suite rooms, AC, TV, and Internet, swimming pool, garden bar with BBQ area, restaurant and views of Kilimanjaro. We have enjoyed very much and thanks for Karibu Adventure to use this Hotel

Stayed in this hotel three trips now and will continue to go back. The staff is amazing, which is our favorite part...they remember us and we feel very welcome every time. There are four restaurants, and you can sit in any you want while ordering from any menu. We like the Italian restaurant area by the pool, and usually order plates from each restaurant and share them. Rooms are clean, the water is usually hot enough, and the power only goes out sporatically...all things you look for in this part of the world. Though the speed isn't lightening fast, the internet cafe is nice to have to communicate with family and friends back home. Pool and garden areas are very nice. We bring lots of supplies and gifts when we visit Tanzania, and we have never had an issue with theft at all. One issue we have seen in the past, although not as bad the last time, was the number of prostitutes and their "handlers" in the bar area from afternoon through closing. While a fact of life in hotels around the world, the last trip they took up the entire bar and the handlers attitude made several visitors very uncomfortable...so don't be afraid to speak up to the manager and tell them the situation. Overall we love this hotel and the people that work there!

Room tip: Be very specific on bed type you want (king, queen, double, etc.). The suites facing the main road are a bit newer and have a nice view of the city area. The older rooms are still nice and many have a good view of Mount Meru.

Both my colleague and myself experienced problems with the housekeeping going through our bags, even with a "do not disturb" sign on the door. My colleague had the lock to his suitcase cut open. Luckily we had all of our valuable on us so nothing was stolen, but we were constantly anxious about theft.

Waited over an hour for transfer from airport. Rude and unhelpful staff. Food is terrible, as is the service. Not one breakfast or meal in one of the 4 restaurants was of an adequate quality.

There was a lot more - grimy rooms and bedding, netted windows left open for mosquitoes to enter, broken internet etc.

I'm hoping more people will report similar theft/room entering experiences, and the hotel management will be forced to do something about it.

I would definitely recommend staying at the Impala Hotel! Mainly for the food and the African architecture and feel to the place. There were wood carvings all around that were absolutely amazing! The food was our favorite part! There is an Italian, Chinese, and Indian restaurant in the hotel. We went to all 3 and we loved everything we had! The portions were huge and the price was right. The restaurants are open to the outside so the fresh air and nice views are a huge plus! I would definitely recommend the cheese pizza! We got one every day we were there. We stayed here before and after our safari and when we climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, which we did make it to the top of! Before our hike we stayed in a room where we could see Mt. Meru out of our window which was breath taking! After our hike we were over looking the busy roads, so if you can ask for one on the Mt. Meru side.

I also felt very safe there. We went into Arusha once and as a young white couple we did not feel very safe. In the hotel we never felt like we had to put our guards up.

They have a big pool and a small pool for kids. However, only the bravest of people can go in them as they are ice cold. I think I saw 3 people in it the entire time I was there. They are not heated. HOWEVER, there is a wonderful grassy area where they have very comfy beach chairs and food and drink service. We had the best nap of our lives there! There are tons of people lounging in the sun there! So we didn't care that we couldn't go in the pool.

The internet is very slow and it is $5 an hour.

So everything about the lobby and restaurants is absolutely perfect and amazing! However, the rooms were not very good. The beds did have a mosquito net on them. However, the mattress and pillows were not comfortable, very worn, and ugly. The bathrooms were also a little gross. The entire time I was there I did feel clean and comfortable enough, but it could have been better. I definitely recommend people stay there and if I ever go back I would definitely stay there again!

Room tip: Ask to be on the side where you can see Mt. Meru from your room window! It's gorgeous!
